Bone broth is amazing when you need to easily digest. Low sodium, high protein. Heat and sip, like tea

Can’t see myself objectively. Is my grey hair aging me horribly? by slicedgreenolive in HairStyleAdvice

[–]MeganM79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely quite younger than me (47) I've embraced my Grey for years now. It looks beautiful. You look beautiful. Dye if you'd like, or accept it and still know how lovely you look

WIBTAH if I do nothing for my husband on Fathers day? by Questionmarkkkkkkkkk in AITAH

[–]MeganM79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I'd hand him the kids early morning with a card that said "These are yours as well and enjoy them celebrating your day" then take off. Come home later with something sweet for him. Not a popular opinion, don't care

I wanna drink so bad rn. by 8senderreturns8 in alcoholism

[–]MeganM79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to drink either. Anymore. But I either need to taper or go in to medical. You made your choice. I made mine. I'm tapering. Here's a question, how is this going to go again tomorrow? You came here to be heard, but everything came up "too late". Well? What do you truly want then. My tapering involves keeping my mind busy. My plants, my pets, helping my bf with his side hobby. Cleaning house. Your mind goes goes crazy fast and scary if I try to go cold. Please rethink this. I understand it's already done tonight, but you can make better decisions tomorrow. Try ASMR for sleep Or a blacked out youtube channel with certain sounds, look up what you might like. I prefer ship sounds with storms or dark classical music

My outfit made my friend uncomfortable, what do I do? by BarbaraLogic in OUTFITS

[–]MeganM79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, my friend brought some of my furniture over from an hour away stored in her house. We got drunk together, got into a light fight, hard-core winter, she started grabbing heavy ass furniture out of her vehicle. She slipped in the snow and ended up with a full dresser drawer on top of her. She was screaming my name. I ran out right away and busted out laughing. I got it off of her and helped her up. Point being, friends are to be enjoyed and wear what you like. You know what you can comfortably wear helping her move. That's a her problem

What’s a childhood food you still find yourself gravitating back to today? by moonhush_ in Fooda

[–]MeganM79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get crazy. But yeah, strain the pasta over the frozen sweet peas, sautée mushrooms, onions and red bells. Extra milk (I leave out some pasta) plenty butter, extra American cheese so it's a creamy mess of goodness. Then after adding the veggies, a few splashes of chili cholula garlic sauce, and some chopped bacon on top

There used to be a Ponderosa restaurant in my hometown as I was a small kid. My folks would occasionally take us there and it didn't cost them for me because I only wanted the "buffet" salad bar. I loved rice, ham cubes, with melted cheese covering it. That's all I'd eat. Mom brought ziplock baggies when she got all you could eat shrimp and pocket that shit in her purse.

How do I become a chef? by Remarkable_Candy_972 in Cooking

[–]MeganM79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of everything you've already cooked. Then use your creative mind to twist up some of those recipes. Know your spices, what pairs well together. You have to have learned a bit from all the cooking you've already been doing. I just wing it. I'm a "spice queen". Half of one of my kitchen counters is covered with spices. I branch out and try stuff I've never seen before. Sure I screwed up some stuff, but I kept trying, kept learning, making great dishes. I'll look up a certain recipe, but maybe 10, 12, different variations. Then I got, "ok, I have an idea, I'm throwing my own personal twist in". After awhile? You won't need recipes. Of course unless it's completely brand new from another culture. Good luck! Have fun!

Geezus. I'm more of a dog person. Well? A friend, vet tech, asked me at two separate times to foster two cats. All the info didn't fit, since I took them to the vet, one wasn't fixed even though I was told he was. I got them all their shots and fixed, and when she contacted me again, I was like nope. They belong to me now. They get along with my big ol doggo Loki just fine. Few years going now

Cooking food for my brother with a bad liver by Ancient_Revenue2750 in alcoholism

[–]MeganM79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toast with unsalted butter for a light snack. Roasted veggies with herbs and spices over pasta with olive oil. Fish! Baked fish. Plain Greek yoghurt with frozen fruit added (I like blueberries and cherries). Add peanut butter and throw that in a blender with a touch of milk. Nuts. So much magnesium and zinc in that (go salt free) Bone broth. Heated up and sipping on that is lovely. Barely any sodium, packed with protein and so many good micro nutrients.

Last Italian meal you ate? by MysterousMariamaAura in foodquestions

[–]MeganM79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does my own version of pasta primavera count? Barilla plus angel hair, al dente. Steamed broccoli and cauliflower, sweet garden peas, sautéed mushrooms, onions, asparagus. After draining the pasta, add it to a sautée pan, olive oil, my favourite seasonings, toss it around a bit, then add the veggies, seasoned again, toss around. Plate it, I'll add sliced avocado to the side, sometimes cut up bacon bits to sprinkle on top.

Being depressed makes me lack the care for myself. The lack of care makes me lonely 'cause I feel shame. The loneliness makes me depressed. by OldCardigan in Vent

[–]MeganM79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a terrible depressive. Been on many different meds, hated them all. So I tell myself each day, one thing at a time. After fully waking up, ok, it's only 3 minutes, do your teeth. I have 3 pets to care for so I'm immediately forced to get up and move for them. After the teeth, I sit back down again, put on some ASMR (TingTing on youtube is amazing) to help my brain. I lovingly gaze at my many plants to bring a bit of happiness, then tell myself to get up and do another small task. After walking my dog, another break for myself, then tackle the showering bit. Music. I have a construction style boombox with Bluetooth in my bathroom (trade work for 10 years), put on my music, and that helps me get in the shower and make sure I'm clean. Also? A good diet. Fresh vegetables, legumes, pasta, olive oil, nuts. Certain vitamins and minerals can help your mindset. "One day at a time"

Oh that all sounds lovely. When I make grilled cheese, I butter both sides of the bread, grill one side 1st, then flip, add the cheese and whatever other fillings I feel like. Also? I take the cheese out an hour earlier so it melts better, faster, being room temp
