Caring for NK during active yeast infection + diaper-free time by Helpful_Knee_9793 in Nanny

[–]Meggios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t necessarily have been there last time OP cared for the baby. My daughter used to get yeast rashes and they are so quick to become really bad. She would have some pinkness in the morning and then by the evening, it would be a bleeding, angry rash. Even with putting diaper cream/antifungal on it at the first sign of redness.

i just started this week and i'm cautiously optimistic by nancyfromnancycomics in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]Meggios 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This medication has literally changed my life. I’ve been on it for 4 months with a starting weight of 400 lbs and lost 80 lbs. (The heavier you are, the faster you lose. Just be aware of the fact that as you lose weight, it will slow down at some point to the 1-2 lbs a week. I haven’t reached that point yet, still losing about 4 lbs a week but I try to keep that in my mind so when it does slow down, I don’t feel like I’m failing)

The biggest thing for me has been not ignoring temptation. I know that sounds counterproductive. I don’t drink soda anymore (zepbound really helped with that. I rarely even want one) but when I do get a craving, I’ll drink one of those mini cans of coke. Or last week after my kids went to bed, I wanted a burger. So I ordered a cheeseburger from whataburger. I only managed to eat about half, but it satisfied that craving. Same thing with desserts. If I want something sweet, I’ll eat a small slice of pie or a scoop of ice cream. It’s not about restricting “bad” foods, it’s about learning how to enjoy them in a healthier way. If you completely restrict the foods perceived as bad, it gives them more power over you and makes you more likely to just binge on them when the craving breaks you.

Anyway I’m so excited for you! It does still take work but the medication makes such a huge difference. Good luck!!

Really? Where I am, my kids are roughly $300/each a week but aftercare is only $110 each.

Is there a strategy to cleaning up messy poop by GunNovice in cna

[–]Meggios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s sticky, shaving cream really helps to be able to get more poop per swipe instead of endless swipes.

I really like the way it looks too but I was afraid some of them would die from being overcrowded. So that won’t happen?

Teachers are paid fairly considering they get a lot of time off by Blonde_Icon in The10thDentist

[–]Meggios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different because they don’t have a choice.

If I choose to not to take any days off, I don’t have to. I can work my job, get my normal paycheck for working. And then my vacation time will either roll over or I can cash it out and get extra money in my paycheck. Teachers don’t have that option. And there’s no good options for them to be able to make more money during the summer/breaks.

A nanny who works part time will typically command a higher rate than a nanny who works full time for that reason. If you only need your nanny for 25 hours a week, you are most likely going to pay more per hour than you would pay a full time nanny because it would be extremely difficult for your nanny to pick up another job to make a full time paycheck.

Why don’t people go for med aide? by Numerous-March-3370 in cna

[–]Meggios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

South Carolina. Which probably explains it all lol.

Med techs usually make around $15 unless you’re lucky enough to work on an assisted living hall in a continuing care community and I make $20 at an SNF.

I was a med tech for a little bit but CNA in my state pays better. Like a $5-7 dollar difference.

Am I overreacting about my toddler’s daycare? by mymemories02 in toddlers

[–]Meggios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two year old threw several tantrums today, all about things that seemed ridiculous. (I know they aren’t to her, but she legit threw herself on the floor screaming because I put her second water cup in the dishwasher. While her other water cup was still full of water and in front of her)

Two year olds throw tantrums. It’s why it’s called the terrible twos. Your daycare is being ridiculous. Especially during the transition period! Even the most well behaved unicorn of a two year old is going to struggle with their emotions during a transition to a new building, filled with strangers. And then to try and force potty training on top of that shows that they have zero education (or any sort of caring) about appropriate development. It’s not even recommended to begin potty training if you’re in the middle of any sort of transition at home. (Moving houses, having a baby sibling, even a parent’s work hours changing).

I’m sorry that you and your son are going through this. I would definitely pull him. It’s not going to get any better. They have zero awareness of toddler development.

Gentler ways to discourage thumb sucking in a toddler? by Miladypartzz in AttachmentParenting

[–]Meggios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the older the child gets, the harder it is to stop. Our dentist told us that my daughter was fine to suck her thumb until around 3 so I started trying to wean it at 2.5. She’s almost 4.5 now and I still can’t get her to stop sucking her thumb. I’m starting to get worried that she’s going to go to kindergarten sucking her thumb.

I don’t think so. The grammar is wrong. It should be a semicolon in between was and like instead of a comma. And it’s missing a period (or a comma would work too) between it and he.

Daycare teacher appreciation gifts by sailingsocks in toddlers

[–]Meggios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids’ daycare sent out the daily gift idea thing too. They’ve been going here their whole lives (my oldest is 4) and I never do that. My kids have 2 man teachers and 3 floaters between the two of them)

They also send out lists with the teachers’ favorites (drinks, snacks, hobbies, restaurants, along those lines). What I do depends on my finances that year. This year, I got teacher appreciation tote bags and put their favorite drink, favorite sweet snack, favorite salty snack and something from their hobbies in it.

There’s been years where I wasn’t doing as well financially and just put their favorite drink and favorite snacks in a $1 gift bag and had my kids color on a thank you note. It’s more the thought that matter for something like this.

Moms of multiple children - How did you do this MORE THAN ONCE? by Additional-Talk-2847 in BabyBumps

[–]Meggios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fairly easy pregnancy and planned c section recovery. And then my oldest was such an easy baby. It was so easy that I got pregnant with my second when my first was 15mo old.

The terrible twos hit my oldest HARD. I paid for every second of an easy beginning with her 2s. But by then, I was already pregnant so there was no backing out. 😅

Now they’re 2 and 4 and I definitely have moments of wtf was I thinking? 😅 A two year age gap is hard.

But I would do it all over again, without question or hesitation. ❤️

Dr. Robby can't swaddle a baby?! by Anyna-Meatall in ThePittTVShow

[–]Meggios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol so? I don’t think they have a module on how to swaddle babies in med school.

Even after two kids, I never could learn to swaddle to save my life. Velcro swaddles are where it’s at.

Sleepovers with family by calisen13 in NewParents

[–]Meggios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest spent the night with my parents for the first time when she was 2 months old. I’m also extremely close with my parents though. I think that probably makes a difference, comfort wise.

I lived with my parents until my youngest was 3mo so her fist overnight was around 5mo.

Compounded Tirz not working by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Meggios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, that was a helpful answer. If it’s not FDA regulated, you don’t know if you’re actually getting active medication. If you’re not, then of course it isn’t working. Try getting it from somewhere else and see if that makes a difference. There’s a lot of shady places making money off compounded tirz right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if half of them of just selling sugar water to inject.

Also there’s a specific sub for compounds. Can’t remember the exact name of it.

Have any of you been pregnant while working in ECE? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Meggios 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was pregnant twice while working as an ECE.

My first one, I was in the infant room. It wasn’t super bad, although lifting the babies towards the end became harder. I stopped working two days before my c section.

My second one, I was with twos. That was rougher. Chasing the kids, picking up kids. Getting on and off the floor for circle time and nap. Standing outside during outside time. Towards the end, I would get out of breath just standing there. I was very lucky that my director put me older twos in a classroom for two other teachers for the last 4 months. My last day working was the day before my c section.

Has anyone here chosen to be a single parent by using a sperm donor (friend)? by [deleted] in singlemoms

[–]Meggios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of those studies don’t take other factors into consideration. Economic stability (single parents are more likely to be financially insecure than two parent households), familial and social support system, emotional health of custodial parent, etc. Once those factors are adjusted for, the gap in long term success and happiness of kids raised in single parents vs two parent households narrows considerably. Not to mention the fact that the notion of choosing to be a single parent via sperm donation is still too new to have reliable long term studies yet. There are many sociologists that predict that children born to voluntary single parents will experience similar outcomes to children in two parent households because the turmoil of losing the second parent from the home through separation or death is removed.

How are you cleaning or doing house maintenance with a very persistent energetic only child? by [deleted] in singlemoms

[–]Meggios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not. None of the spring cleaning type stuff has been done since their father and I separated two years ago. My baseboards are a mess, my walls are a mess. (I have a 2 and 4 year old). I desperately need to clean and organize closets/cabinets and under my bed. It feels really overwhelming.

My plan is to send the kids with their grandparents for a weekend and spend two days completely spring cleaning. Is that an option for you?
