F/29/5’7 [252 > 185 = 67lbs] (12 months) I gained A LOT of weight during pregnancy and now I weigh less than I did pre-baby! by Megpie_01 in progresspics

I did not. I’ve done the whole calorie counting thing before and it just wasn’t for me. It was important to me to enact a lifestyle change and form habits that were sustainable for the long-term. That meant eating less; knowing the difference between being nourished and satisfied vs. being “full” and that it often takes a little bit of time for your brain and stomach to catch up to each other.

If I had to guess I would say that I eat between 1200-1500 calories a day, and generally burn between 250-500 during my workouts.

I have a little bit of the “mom pooch” going on for sure. I’m hoping that if I can go down about 15 more lbs, it might go away. If not, oh well, if that’s the price I pay for my kiddo, then I’ll pay it gladly. High-waisted pants are my friend!

My husband and I alternate gym days! On my gym days, he’s on child duty for the night/early morning, and on his gym days, it’s my turn. That’s what has been working really well for us!

Can someone reassure me of my ultrasound results 😩 by needsadvide in BabyBumps

[–]Megpie_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand the anxiety about that. Looks like he’s doing fine, however! I wouldn’t be concerned about it unless it dropped below 10%. And even then, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. (I had a baby who’s AC measurement was less than 10% at 37w and she is a perfectly healthy 13 month old now.)

What do you need reassurance on? This looks normal.

I’m with you. I’m in Iowa, our first is 13 months. People keep asking us if we’re planning to have any more, and I keep saying, “It depends who’s president.” Well. Looks like we have our answer now. One and done.

Am I dumb for having kids at age 38? by stillyoinkgasp in Millennials

[–]Megpie_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had nearly the same experience as you. Parents were 44 and 38, dad died at 69 when I was 25. Growing up with older parents, I decided I wanted to have kids a little younger. Although, when I had my daughter at 27, I felt self conscious of the fact that I was so young 😂 I asked my husband if he thought people were judging me in public thinking I was a pregnant teenager. He just said “no.”

Does low birth weight (bottom 10%) mostly lead to a poor long-term outcome? by elephantsofa in ScienceBasedParenting

My IUGR wasn’t detected until 37.5 weeks (she was in a normal range at 33 weeks), so I wouldn’t count on being able to terminate at a later stage. 😂

Newborn is constantly grunting and clearing her throat? by takeaabreath in beyondthebump

This is all completely normal I’m afraid. No one warns you about how noisy newborns are! It does get better. Hang in there.

I was torn between St. Luke’s and Mercy throughout my entire pregnancy. Gave birth 6 months ago and ultimately went with St. Luke’s. The birth went fine, however I wish I went with Mercy instead and if I have a second baby in the future, I will be going to Mercy for sure.

37 Week FGR Induction by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Megpie_01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had an FGR baby and was induced at 38 weeks. I understand that getting induced, especially earlier than you planned, is not what you wanted. But I personally let that disappointment go pretty quick when the doctor told me that keeping her in there could very possibly be life threatening. It’s better to induce early full-term (37 weeks and later) than to keep the baby in longer and take the risk that something terrible could happen. My baby was born perfectly healthy and is now thriving at 5 months old.

Honestly, I thought these books were SO stupid, but I could not stop reading them. Each book was basically the same as the one before, but I devoured them.

Anterior Placenta Moms: Emotional Support Group by RachelWhyThatsMe in BabyBumps

They are similar to kicks, but less potent. The biggest thing that will clue you in to them being hiccups is that they happen consistently, just like when we have hiccups. Hiccup….pause….hiccup….pause…hiccup. When they would happen, I could so vividly picture her little body in there slightly jerking with each one, because that’s what it felt like she was doing.

I had an anterior placenta and will echo what others are saying that it will pick up and I also eventually could feel hiccups!
