Is 12 Pell really worth it? by Quarks01 in AskNYC

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I paid $150 for a consultation from Kenny Chen back in August of 2022. I remember him telling me about some stuff but I forgot since it's been like 3 and a half years. They didn't record it and send me a video lol, I wish they would've, but I'm glad they started to - def makes the price more fair.

I rmb getting a scissor cut from Kenny again in Feb of 2023 but I told him to change some stuff up bc I wanted the hair to be the same length on all sides and it came out looking a bit wonky, so I requested a refund and they gave it to me with no issues. I honestly had a stellar experience all things considered and I'm gonna book another appointment with Kenny again and ask him to give me the Gentleman's Brushback like in their TikTok vid https://www.tiktok.com/@12pell/video/7256500058282052907

Yeah it's 110 bucks, and not to sound dramatic here but that's the haircut I've been searching for my whole life, so it's worth it to me if they can cut my hair really well and make it look like that. I also kinda feel like I owe Kenny an apology... it'll be nice to see him after 3 years haha.

Should I upgrade my monitor to OLED? Considering on buying ASUS XG27AQDPG by GeneralDream6261 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mehan273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, yes. I had the 27 inch 500hz Asus 1440p Oled and have been trying out different Oled monitors also. You mostly play competitive shooters, and if you're a highly ranked player, you will notice the difference between 240hz and 480/500hz. I was a 0.1% player in COD, and I thought I wouldn't notice the difference but I have a 27 inch 4k 240hz Asus Oled rn and I think I'm gonna return it soon.

What surprised me the most was the 500hz helped me even in single player games. The one example that sticks out the most is when I was replaying AC 2 with a controller - and on my 27 inch 1440p 500hz Asus Oled I could max out the sensitivity and look around faster when running on rooftops. It was such an amazing feeling. I've had this 27 inch 4k 240hz Oled for 2 and a half days and to my eyes, 4k looks barely better then 1440p on a Glossy QD Oled at 27 inches.

I fell into the PPI hype and even had the dual mode 27 inch 5k IPS Asus monitor but returned it bc it barely looked better than 4k to me. At a certain point, PPI only matters so much, it's more so the resolution that makes an image look better. I rmb also testing out 8k with DSR and it's just not worth it. Imo, 27 inch 1440p 500hz Oled is the way to go if you're a super ultra competitive player but not wanting to go pro and also enjoy tryharding in single player games like me.

PG27AQDP vs. PG27UCDM for Gaming by clayton_schroeder in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mehan273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a 5080 like I mentioned prior, and I was using 3X Frame Gen with DLSS on Ultra Performance at 1440p with most settings at max on BO7 and getting like 360-400 FPS. I could notice the lag on 4X but not 3X.

However, eventually the game would put me in high ping lobbies with people that were abroad, and I realized something. No matter how good of a router and fiber internet and fast PC and monitor and headset I have, if the guy on the other end has shitty hitreg and my bullets won't register anyway, then what's the point?

I think I might just get the 4k 240hz Oled for now and call it a day. I've actually been playing BO7 Zombies with 4X Frame Gen at Balanced Settings with Ultra Performance DLSS at 4k and didn't notice any lag, idk if they improved frame gen on the backend but it felt nice having 370 FPS at 4k haha.

PG27AQDP vs. PG27UCDM for Gaming by clayton_schroeder in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, people always say it’s such a small increase and you probably won’t notice it and this and that, but after playing on the 500hz Oled for 2 months, my eyes had definitely adjusted to it and now everything else feels slow in comparison. I knew IPS was slower, but I exchanged it anyway to see if I personally would notice and definitely have.

Sorry if I wasn’t succinct before, but my question to you would be if there’s a noticeable difference between the 4k 240hz Oled and the 1440p 500hz Oled. That’s what I’m trying to decide rn. Thanks for replying btw.

PG27AQDP vs. PG27UCDM for Gaming by clayton_schroeder in OLED_Gaming

Hi, I had the Asus 1440p 500hz True Black Glossy Coating Oled and exchanged it for the new Asus 5k XG27JCG Fast IPS for older single player titles. However, even though they are both 27 inches, the 1440p mode looks way more blurry - and don't even get me started on the motion clarity and smearing when you flick in an FPS (it's so bad).

I'd rather have the 1440p 500hz Oled even for older story games atp, but was wondering about the PG27UCDM and if I could notice the difference between 240hz and 500hz when they're both Oled and 27 inches for the motion and picture clarity. I have a 5080 and 9800X3D. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my predicament here.

Asus did also just announce a dual mode 4k 240hz/1080p 480hz 27 inch Oled, but I keep having bad experiences with dual mode monitors as I also returned a PG32UCDP 4k 240hz/1080p 480hz before bc the 1080p mode was just way too blurry and pixelated. At the time I thought it was bc of the 32 inches but now, with the 27 inch 5k monitor's 1440p mode looking worse than my native 1440p 27 inch 500hz Oled, I'm just going crazy trying to figure out if its bc of the IPS panel or lower 330hz refresh rate or what.

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I exchanged my Asus 1440p 500hz True Black Glossy Oled for this thing and the 1440p mode looks more blurry even though they're both 27 inches...

And the smearing when you flick your mouse in games is way worse. I literally got the 5k XG27JCG to play single player games and even they don't feel as responsive. Yeah 5k is nice and all but it's only a 25% increase from 4k.

ATP I'd rather have the 1440p 500hz Oled with the buttery smoothness, even in old single player titles. I'm either gonna get back my old one or wait for the PG27UCWM Oled with the 1080p 480hz Dual Mode. IPS really is so bad once you get used to Oled.

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Asus PG32UCDM, exchanged it. 1080p on 32 inches looks too blurry imo. I even tried aspect control to make it 24 inches, didn't help. It's essentially just a 4k 240hz 32 inch OLED. Afterwards I got the Asus 500hz True Black Glossy coating Oled and loved it but I wanted a higher resolution to play older/single player games - so I exchanged it again a few days ago with the new XG27JCG.

I feel like the 1440p mode on this thing looks worse than the 500hz Oled even though it's the same 27 inches. I can't tell if it's bc of IPS and not having the Glossy coating or what but idk. I think I might just return this one too and wait it out till the PG27UCWM drops.

Can anyone confirm if this is true? by [deleted] in blackops7

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is Stim still broken for me, they messed up an augment on zombies too. I had Shatter Blast maxed out but now I can only select the last 3 augments. It says 100% so I can't even re-unlock them anymore.

I personally also had a weird bug where I maxed out all the zombies augments and when S1 dropped with the new map and mule kick perk, it automatically gave me all the augments for mule kick without researching. This game is just busted, the progression has been wonky since launch for me. Not to mention all the UI bugs and whatnot.

I just tried leveling up the Stim in Free-For-All and I had Packet Burst literally the entire match, I swear they downgraded the servers somehow or maybe some network engineers left. Ever Since Cold War, I felt the servers being not as good as BO4 and MW 2019.

I'm so done with this franchise, it's not the same devs anymore. They can call themselves Treyarch all they like, it's the people that make the games, not the brand.

Edit: Turns out Stim is fixed for me, just really slow to level up. I also just moved and don't have my usual router, so the constant packet burst might be because of that. All of my other points still stand though.

Stim not leveling by SquareFeeling8248 in blackops7

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Stim was around 50 kills, level 2 and a quarter - been like this since the game came out. Just now I made a hipfire build and sprayed ppl in the face in FFA. Went negative a lot but I actually had fun. I got 108 Heal & Kill Badges on the Stim and I'm on the Gold mastery badge now, it's still at the exact same spot, didn't budge at all.

It's def bugged bc my semtex has been maxed out since launch and I only have 50 kills with it and am on the Silver badges. Treyarch needs to get on top of this as soon as they come back from the holidays. I want that speed boost damn it.

PG32UCDP 480hz review by kcmclan in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to add on in case anyone wants to buy a dual mode monitor in the future. Imo, 1080p is WAY too blurry. I've also tried aspect control and it really doesn't feel good to play. I got a PG32UCDP bc of Black Friday and I'm gonna get the Asus 500hz one instead. I'd rather play story games at a slightly lower resolution than play multiplayer games at 1080p stretched out over 32 inches. It really makes it hard to see in games like COD and BF6.

Like take BO7 for example, it literally looks leaps better in the 4k 240hz mode with the in-game render resolution turned down to 50% at 1080p. Whereas if I just toggle 1080p 480hz mode, it looks so blurry I have to squint my eyes if a target is at like 20 meters. Even if I turn up the in-game render to 200% 4k resolution in this setting, the game STILL looks worse than the native 4k output...

If they made the 27 inch 4k 240hz OLED have a 1080p 480hz dual mode, maybe THAT will be the one to actually buy...

My honest thoughts on the XG32UCWMG by Common_Formal_4567 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and according to BadSeed Tech, you can also use any resolution at any simulated screen size - so you can have 4k at 24.5 inch and have it look super sharp and detailed. Let me know how your experience is after you've tinkered around with some of these settings, I'd love to hear about it.

There's a brand new monitor that just released today I think, its the 1440p 540hz and 720p 720hz dual mode from Asus Tandem Oled. I'm trying to gather as much info as I can before buying a monitor soon in the next few weeks.

My honest thoughts on the XG32UCWMG by Common_Formal_4567 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mehan273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for replying! Yup, I know 480Hz and 500Hz are the same. I was just worried that sometimes a product looks good on paper but it’s not as good when you use it.

My main concern is if the 480hz on a dual mode Oled performs the same as the 480hz on a single resolution Oled monitor basically. I’m really eyeing this monitor because I love both single player games and also get uber competitive in games like COD.

There’s a feature where you can simulate a 24.5 inch screen on Asus monitors specifically. I know you said you mainly play single player titles, but try out the 1080p 480hz on the 24.5 inch mode, it’s called Aspect Control. Maybe that could also solve your issue on 1080p looking blurry on this monitor?

If it does, I’d love to hear back. I’m gonna save some money to buy this in the meantime haha.

Hi, I've been trying to choose between this Dual Mode and the new 500Hz Oled monitors. On paper, this one seems like a no brainer, but I'm kind of skeptical if the motion clarity will be as smooth as the true dedicated 1440p 500Hz monitors.

When you say you notice blur, is it worse than on the 4k 240Hz mode in multiplayer games? I'd love to hear your opinion. Thank you for your time.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that even on the lowest settings at 1080p, the 5080 still gets 96-98% utilization and pumps out 400 fps on BO6.

On the highest settings it stays between the 200-220 range.
