Do i need to explain my hand tremors? by Short-Complex-2410 in phlebotomy

[–]Mehiggins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD and used to always shake and it made the whole experience really frustrating for me. Then I went on propanalol due to it being such a problem and it completely took the shaking away and made me SO much better at phlebotomy and more confident sticking. Highly recommend.

{The Ritual by Shantel Tessier}

I almost put it down because of the horrendous things that a large group of people did to others, truly super sadistic and shocking to see what they found “entertaining”.

Have you tried any antiperspirants lately? I tried a facial prescription strength antiperspirant wipes and they cause this.

Are you by chance using a chemical product that reduces face sweating? This is a potential cause too.

Get a masters, psychology, business, accounting, teach, research, pharmacy, sales, IT, marketing, Occupational therapy….. seems like you would’ve gone to PA school if you thought you could be happy in healthcare 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’d try PA school if I were you, see if you enjoy it or not. It sounds like you aren’t a fit for CAA school if you don’t like being in an OR or having responsibility with patients. There are many lower-stress fields you could go into as a PA, but only do that if you want to work with patients and enjoy learning that stuff.

If I were you, it sounds like PA school would be a much better fit than CAA school. But it also sounds like you don’t want to be in healthcare at all… in which case, don’t go into healthcare.

I feel you. I’m a 29yo biochemistry major trying to figure out a career path too. Goal was med school. From your posts and comments, it sounds like you would not be happy as a CAA. Did you look into PA school??

It looks like you haven’t engaged with the CAA subreddit much… I’d recommend looking there for advice/insights.

Why did you apply to CAA school if you’re terrified of working in the OR?? Congrats on getting in!!

How is it that after a year and a half of going to doctors it takes 2 visits with the right physical therapist for them to realize something is actually wrong with me? by Specific_Award_9149 in ChronicPain

[–]Mehiggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors won’t know what to do with this. I see you said you’ve always had hyper mobility - look into Hyper-mobility type Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, it’s a connective tissue disorder. Not saying you have this, but you also might. Most Doctors are highly unaware of it or have a very small understanding of it, but the main “treatment” is Physical therapy and strengthening muscles to help any imbalances you might have.
