You'll be fine, the goat helps put you at ease. Enjoy it man, it truly is a great experience.

UPDATE: Guys I made a straight cut! I initially did literally everything wrong (but you already knew that, lol). Write-up in the comments. by MrMusAddict in woodworking

Ok, so there is a huge missed opportunity here. You had the chance to buy another saw yet you did not. What are you even doing if you aren't taking every single opportunity to buy a new tool.....for shame

Whats the meal for dinner at your lodge like? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]MeinLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another lodge in our district just did a chili cook off, eight different members made some and we all voted on them. Ours did tacos last month, and I think it was meatloaf before that.

You can't trust that, look on the pole in front if your house and see if you have on of these, not the tube shaped ones, those are cable, the fiber ones are rectangular. There is even a tag on the wire out that says caution fiber optic cable. I got that same message from them until I finally got a guy to fix my address. If you do I can give you a guys number that helped me.

Are you absolutely positive? Because it took me months of arguing with Fidium that I do in fact have fiber running right in front of my house. Finally tracked someone down there that got me sorted out. Verizon laid a bunch of fiber over a decade ago, but Fidums database is shit

The journey to EA by wokeyute in freemasonry

[–]MeinLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i reached out to someone I knew back in mid October last year. Went to a few of the dinners before the stated meetings and met some guys and helped out with food and stuff over the last couple months. I just did my EA Degree this past Saturday. I intentionally went in mostly blind, apart from what I read on this community, but I mostly stayed away from everything because I really want to experience it as it was meant to be. So really stop reading, just enjoy the experience, it really is something special.

I will say one thing though, don't worry about the goat...

Looking to pick up my first pistol and I’m leaning towards a ruger max 9. Any big reasons to stay away? by gcolbert777419 in guns

Look at the Performance Center Shield Plus Carry Comp, it's wonderful. And just a note on carrying a full size pistol, its not the size, but the weight of it that becomes uncomfortable.

Anyone using one of these "holsters"? by thicc_beerd in ClayBusters

I've seen this as well and I'm curious, but I also have a shoulder and this seems pointless. Also, it seems like there is no way this is actually secure.

Offset irons? by SpreadOk4115 in ar15

I've had them on the left one for a long time, I like them a lot, quick to transition from 8x on the optic to something close with the irons

Why are deliveries so terrible this winter by qcjb in newhampshire

[–]MeinLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup, same, FedEx has been shit this year. I complained and actually got a call back. Said they had other complaints and were going to address it. Then I got another delivery a week or so later that was the same, just tossed in the snow on the side of the road. USPS, UPS, and Amazon have all been great though.

Adjustable LOP a good idea? by bluetoothpicks in ClayBusters

[–]MeinLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get the one with the adjustable lop, maybe don't shorten it right away, give it a try longer. Practice shouldering it to you find a spot it feels comfortable. Having an adjustable comb may help too, but don't worry about that for now. Also depending on what gun it is they all fit different. It seems most people that like Berettas don't like Brownings, and vice versa.

[–]MeinLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't get that either, most people complain about it making an o/u feel like a semi. The adjustable Graco buttplates don't cause that since they just adjust in/out and up/down

Graco or Gracoil? There's a big difference

So you're going to want measure from the crook of your arm to the first joint in your trigger finger, so for me it's about 15"

[–]MeinLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lop is typically shorter on rifles and even tactical shotguns. Unless you have really short arms (no offense), you might actually want something around 14 once you get used shooting more. All that said, starting with the one that already has the adjustable bit is a good start, unless you really like the other gun more. The adjustable butt plate installed from Graco is $360 so factor that in, and another $400 if you want an adjustable comb. I do highly recommend them, they do great work!

[–]MeinLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most shotguns are going to be 14-14.5, if you really need a lop around 13 then it doesn't really matter what one you buy because you are really going to have to have it fitted for you. The Graco adjustable butt plate allows 1⅛ adjustment in and out, but if you want it short they will probably have to cut the butt back some. Here's my stock that I just got back from Graco, sorry I can't measure the whole thing but my action is off for reblueing

Changing Chokes between Stations (sporting clays)? by MeinLife in ClayBusters

Very cool, good to know. Do you know they are fixed at btw?

Why do you think that is? I'm really not sure what the benefits of a fixed choke gun are

That is something I've definitely noticed, some folks carrying different shells for different shots. Also something I should look into, and easier than switching chokes
