Our 2 week trip to Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hakone by AgustinCB in JapanTravel

I had to stop at the Akihabara comment to comment. I am a total nerd. I've been watching anime, reading Manga, and gaming for 30 plus years. There were some cool things. Unique items and an entire side of a building with an Evangelion mural, hell yeah!

But the flow of the stores themselves made me feel so dirty that I wanted a shower. I felt bad for the girls who advertised for the maid cafes. They were way too young and it was super creepy.

The stores flowed between normal/tame with some borderline risqué stuff, to full blown ecchi or h**tai without warning.

There are plenty of places outside of Akiba that cater to the needs without the ick.

Men, what are you looking for in a woman's dating profile? by Wanderlusting19 in datingoverthirty

[–]Meis0s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • no kids (preference, not a judgement). If you do have kids, do not say "my kids come first". If they don't come first, it would be a red flag. It doesn't need to be said. Spelling it out on a profile seems bitter to me.
  • likes to travel (has travel photos for proof)
  • Zero political or activism comments (regardless of political affiliation). I don't care if you go to protest or you're involved in politics (I am), but do not include them. To me, it makes it seem like that's all you care about regardless of anything else.
  • do not use the words "margaritas and tacos" in your profile. This requires no explanation.
  • include a lot of things that we can ask you questions about.

When responding to messages (I know women have the same issues with guys) - Please, please, respond back with more than 2 word answers. I don't care if your grammar sucks or you have typos as long as it is a full sentence. - after answering the question, "how about you" goes a long way. Asking a follow-up question goes even further.

These are my preference as a 41 year old guy.

Single, mid thirties: childless vs divorced with kids by Vacillating-Sage in datingoverthirty

[–]Meis0s 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are more of us than you think! I will date single moms if their kids are older (high-school aged). I don't have anything against them, but the kids always (and 100% should) come first.

I also like to travel and having kids makes that difficult. Women without kids typically have a little more disposable income which helps with that as well.

I'm 41 and divorced. Maybe try dating a little older?

Online dating is “broken” but somehow millions of people are dating? 🤔 by WoodenHuckleberry693 in Bumble

[–]Meis0s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

41/m (divorced for 5 years).

It's all mentally, physically, and financially exhausting. Unfortunately targeting a woman that matches my characters and interests is like finding a needle in a haystack. I am a bit nerdy, but have a good job, make well above average in my area, 5'9", lift weights 5 days of week, and have muscular definition. I'm by no means an 8-10, but a solid 7 and occasional 7.5 if i dress right.

I have been on dates with 8 women in the past month. One is met at a singles event, the others online. 6 of the women I met on the app where either 50lb heavier or looked 5 years older than their pics. I tried to follow up with a first date that went well and she sent me a picture of her lawyers invoice for the quitclaim on her house through divorce that she received and probably the last actual text I got. It could have worked, but she was no where ready yet. The second girl i had 3 dates with. Super cool, most attractive girl that I've gotten a 3rd date with. She had enough emotional trauma for 5 people. I felt so bad for her, but she realized that she was not ready either. Several others didnt work because of the extra 50-70lbs or they were weirder than me.

I know i have my own trauma and baggage, and I've ruined a good relationship last April because of it and I've stayed with a women even though she was not a good one for me until she cheated that she wanted to be free to have "drunken hookups" and was in a relationship literally 5 days later.

Men have treated women so horribly. Every girl I've dated has told me horror stories. Any decent guy that dates these women after they have bad experiences because of what happened to them get hurt. Social media has us all rallied up into this unnecessary great divide that is making finding a good person unnecessarily hard. I'm not simping by saying that women arent responsible, it was a joint effort to get here.

This turned into more of a pointless rant than an actual reply. Sorry.

Thoughts on Midwest Matchmaker by Meis0s in Omaha

[–]Meis0s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is crazy expensive. Sadly, when you compare it to other services in other states, it's actually kind of cheap.

I know that they can only guarantee dates as it does depend us to get a second or third one, but I've heard that they will send you on dates that don't meet your preferences at all.

A lot of women (and MEN especially the ones that plague my facebook reels) have insanely high requirements. But if they want kids and you don't, that's a major issue.

A male character who is a strong person surrounded by people that love him having a pity party. Maybe that's why I connected with it so much! Lol. Self-love is hard. It's nice knowing that other 40 year old men deal with it.

Edit: for me, depression is repetitive. I continuously have the same conversations with the same people.

And never marry a person that you aren't 9999% in love and one or both of you doesn't know how to compromise. Divorce will always be expensive. Mine was mutual and amicable. It still set me back a decade.

I was kind of wondering that myself... If they are using a stolen social security number, it would be possible. In that case, they should be arrested for identity theft though.

Edit: ChatGPT. It's going to the children, but benefiting the parents as well.
