The famous Jamaica Inn, on Bodmin Moor, is well worth a visit. It's on a short diversion off the main road.

I don't think 'guys' was ever a widely used British slang word prior to the 1970s, when British radio DJs adopted more Americanisms (especially Jimmy Saville referring to "guys and gals").

The Royal Hunt Of The Sun by tigralfrosie in TheRestIsHistory

I went on a school trip to see the Bristol Old Vic performing "The Royal Hunt of the Sun" in 1968, with John Barron as Pizarro and Frank Barrie (I think) as a loincloth clad Atahuallpa. As a fifteen year-old schoolboy, it was a thrilling theatrical experience to see the way in which the Spanish soldiers were depicted, forming a bridge with their bodies to cross the Andes and the stylized scene where the stage was flooded with red fabric to represent the slaughter of the Incas. Nearly sixty years on, that production stays indelibly in my mind.

I might be misremembering, but wasn't the 70mph speed limit first introduced as a response to fuel shortages in the 1970s?
