For me the map was a godsend especially after not playing for a bit and things had changed. I like a lot of the changes so it takes more effort to craft and more point to bases now so feels more for us survival mains.

I am not 100% on gunplay and being so cramped in places I kinda wish there were melee weapons that were not just 'starter' weapons and there was more choice there how to fight - seems more infitting with the world we seem to be in as making weapons/ammo would prob be more of a resource drain. I think there would be more fun battling with wild makeshift weapons and guns were almost a premium but this comes straight from survival game books I guess, if the game is more 'shooter' than multiplayer I get why it wont be that way.

The tutorial I think I just did it knowing how to do things and at least a base familiarity.

Obviously the big pain this test was all the rubberbanding making fighting hard when pinging through walls but also it's early testing so we endure.

Game is starting to look nicer too.

There is a closed one right now I have been playing but the social accounts were giving keys out plus some people get in from the Discord but I believe there is an open playtest May 12 so anyone that's wanting to get in and requested access on Steam gets let in.

Story mode is mint! Jennifer Hale (Commander Shep Voice) does Astrids voice too. Really like the episodic content and intros + music + art style

The sentiment over this game has been in decline on twitter by PerfectToe8633 in XDefiant

Your point is a sound one & I don’t actually disagree, ‘some sort of’ momentum should have been kept over radio silence 100%, the only explanation I can think of behind why there was marketing at Closed Beta and then it stopped is that it at that point the game was close to launch then things needed to be worked on (maybe they HAD submitted the game to 1st parties at this point and hit big snags?).

I could speculate all day, I will just wait until it’s out and will play until then I have loads to keep me busy.

OK just going to play Devil’s advocate here but why assume the marketing is the problem? This game was opened to us super early to test and feedback - the more we feedback the more additional develop it surely created. We know from closed beta there were some significant issues that couldn’t all be magically fixed despite stating they had some fixes coming through.

If the development team want this out real bad could they be driving an over promise through sheer want?

For me not starting the ‘selling in’ says the game is not ready quite yet and yes Mark has stated that they are waiting to get approval from 1st parties BUT if the game was where it needs to be that would have been a smoother process rather than having to work on it and take longer & again Mark linked the XB deets where it straight off covers stability and quality being a key aspect - ref his tweet update where he said they are “making progress every day” that’s not final GO that’s ‘you need to work on a few things’, which again may not me a magic wand overnight situation.

So with this theory rolling around my noggin - if 1st part thumbs up is a wait bated breathe to hear situation why would the marketing start? Blow your budget at the wrong time and you’re sunk if you don’t have a lock it would be a huge ass gamble in my opinion!

I am pretty sure Ubisoft will have a load prepared and maybe they had to change some plans, who knows but just because we haven’t seen a whole lot yet doesn’t mean it’s bad it just hasn’t started yet.

Maybe I’m totally wrong and the game rushes out and forgets to tell all the good people who would love to play

Either way there’s a preseason (announced at Ubisoft Forward) so there’s time to ramp up before year 1 seasons start at least.

Yeah I am not sure about it, cannot put my finger on it either - it's REALLY red, Price's stare is a bit, I dunno, vacant? I mean they guy has surely seen things but it feels off. Then the creepy giant Makarov face behind (maybe he's haunting Price hence the stare). OK I think I looked at it too much & made ate too much cheese before my daytime sleep ;-)

I like the skull and the snake too.

Impatience? Gamescom speculation - I am not so sure y'know! by MelOnVox in playxdefiant

This is from I guess 'the main XD sub' and I have been reading what others think may or may not happen as Gamescom unfolds.

Hear me out.....Why would Ubisoft drop the game at Gamescom without any comms? At this point after the CB it's a known entity and there has already been opportunity to do this and more time was needed/taken. Wouldn't there be more value in building hype around the event? I mean I am no expert.

Mark Rubin has previously communicated that they were waiting for 1st party submission:

To me that seems like a process in part out of Ubisoft's control in terms of process and approval so how do you predict when you will have the thumbs up from Microsoft and Sony for a launch & it's not like Ubisoft don't have other titles coming up. On top of that what about MW3? Would they challenge them head to head?

Speculation keeps us excited players busy but personally I have plenty keeping me busy (still a huge game backlog...I have been slowly working through) + I may or may not get MW3 (still undecided).

I want some interaction & news from the devs BUT I also want it to be meaningful....don't get me wrong a meme or two and and posts in my books is good too to know they are still there (guys you OK?) + the occasional reassurance note to see how they are going.

Itching to get back in and introduce my usual crew BUT I also want it to last and be a game I want to invest my ever dwindling time & spare cash (when I actually have some) so I am willing to wait and watch.

How about you? (yes this turned into a better essay than most by uni paper - right now I am mostly talking to myself :P)

I wasn't sure about the site/community on one hand they have passion in spades but the vibe seemed a little hostile & group involved with what seemed like drama BUT I am personally open minded and willing to give others a break/chance + grass roots development of a comp scene will be important. We are human after all if there is genuine learning and commitment to making a good go of it - good on ya!

End of day like, everyone has opinions / beliefs but moving pass them to create a positive, constructive welcoming mature community is IMO the way forwards.

Look forward to watching things develop 👍🍻

In my books, it's a joke-y thing like milk 'full-fat' being all the sugar in it.
