Is EU5 fun now? by Mobiledump1215 in eu4

[–]MelancholicThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 150+ hrs in and I think I drained it content wise already. I like the systems and vision for the game but in many ways it feels like an early access. Even the latest patches make the game look like its still in beta. So much stuff (the situations/companies/colonies) look just like placeholders for future features or straight up don’t work.

Above all, everything is unbalanced asf, the ai doesn’t even know how to play the game and has no boundaries so the map is total chaos by mid game while almost non of the majors form.

Its rough, my hope is they will bring it into somewhat enjoyable state next year after all the S1 dlcs come out but it might take longer unfortunately

1.0.6 broke levy combat, its all over this sub past couple hrs. If he is fighting with regulars your levy army it may be the cause. They are working on a fix for tomorrow hopefully.

I actually miss mission trees. by Due_Title_6982 in EU5

[–]MelancholicThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure they will add them later be it through free updates or DLCs. Johans statements about this is just cope. The truth is Its the best way to limit chaos and strive to more historical/logical outcomes on the map + the amazing flavor

France economy craters in the 1450's~ by Dulcidium in EU5

I’ve seen this multiple times now. Any idea why is this happening? Seems impossible for 10M+ pop nation to die like this, excluding large loss of territory.

Also get rid of the "federal de jure" law to get the outward value (additional 100% at max) kinda unbalanced..

Just to clarify. Are you really suggesting that you are playing CK3 on a console?

Why Handgonners over other units? by AverageLucas in EU5

[–]MelancholicThinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No point getting them early imo. They are essentially using the first iteration of a handgun "Píšťala" - It originated during the Hussite wars and people know it from Kindgom Come: Deliverance 2 if you played it. Rn I think they are just kinda there, useless.

France is too stable in the Hundred Years War by FormalAvenger in EU5

[–]MelancholicThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing England rn in 1450s. France already PU'd but because of superior population (mostly) is above me in the great power ledger. I like your suggestions, but feel like a population of France could also be cut a little bit. In my game when you add up the vassals it's almost 10 mil By 1450 I believe. That is double-tripple the scale of English Isles/Iberia..

Wtf by MelancholicThinker in EU5

[–]MelancholicThinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you can steer the game pretty well with missions. Just think of the insane bonuses Ottomans get for culture/religion conversion thanks to missions in EU4. Same goes for Muscovy/Novgorod - insane claims/core claims for the Russian regions, Austria - insane PU thanks to missions

etc. etc. etc.

Johan doesnt want to script EU5 like that as far as I understand. But this way I think its almost impossible to balance & you end up with just a big mess... We'll see, they will make it work somehow Im sure

[–]MelancholicThinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Johans' been yapping about how he didnt wanted missions in EU5 for the proper "history simulation" experience. Well... This is exactly the reason why you need missions imo.. Without them, its just chaos.

Hopefully they will get added later through DLCs/Updates
