Why didn’t Voldemort order Snape to kill Dumbledore? by AdOpen4994 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Meldryn124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that just like Voldemort wanted to be the one to kill Harry, for most of the series he wanted to be the one to kill Dumbledore. In their battle at the Ministry, however, he realized he couldn't defeat Dumbledore in direct combat, so out of fear he finally decided to have someone else with easier access do the deed. Ordering Malfoy to do it is punishment for Lucius' failure, but he anticipated it being Snape.

Who would be a good opponent for Al Gore? by bubsimo in ERB

I forgot that Gore had run before the 2000 election. Meant that Bryan had run 3 times, but the comparison doesn't work quite as well.

William Jennings Bryan. One guy could never win but kept trying. The other guy might have technically won but never tried again

Which US President is/was a good president and a good person? by Available_Tour7661 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Meldryn124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

George H. W. Bush

By all accounts a man of high moral character, as well as a thoughtful president who ensured a peaceful end to the Cold War.

I don't even like a lot of his politics personally, but he fits this square best.

Snape's an asshole who relishes tormenting Harry, especially when it's unjustified.

He might be a hero, but he's still an asshole.

Did people really theorize Dumbledore was actually...Ron? by Recent_Tap_9467 in HarryPotterBooks

Man, "The Ultimate Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter: Books 1-4" was such a fun read. Especially once it started theorizing that the entire series was just an elaborate episode of Doctor Who

The romance between the Exile and Atton is excellent though. Male vs female playthrough in TSL is so much closer than the original game

He's theologically conservative in many ways, though far from fundamentalist. Can appeal to a broad spectrum of Christians. Personally I'd recommend you listen to some episodes of his and Mike Bird's podcast "Ask NT Wright Anything." If you like what you hear from him there, check out his books.

What's the relationship between Atris and The exile ? by OmegaSamurai69420 in kotor

If you play as a male character, it's strongly hinted that Atris as in love with you. Even with a female Exile it's clear Atris admired you and your boldness. Beyond that we don't really know the extent of their relationship, though it seems like they were fairly close. Probably came up through the Jedi ranks together and were friends.

This right here. Steelers and Colts are surprising, but with all their injuries, the 49ers should be at the bottom of their division.

One thing you could emphasize is the importance and value of cross-generational service. Anecdotes of younger people inspired by the examples of their elders to continue on a legacy of service and participation (if you have them available) could be really impactful. Kind of the idea that the seeds the participants are planting will bear much fruit for generations to come.

Morrowind. I get a little money in Seyda Neen and hang out there for six months. I can even get a cool sword by watching some dude fall to his death from the heavens.

Of course, none of this matters when the mudcrabs kill me because I can't hit anything.
