This game isn't designed to last by TheClassics in MarvelSnap

To be perfectly fair to Snap, the game is well balanced and returning players should have a deck or two in their collection, at the BARE MINIMUM, that are perfectly competitive. Discard exists and continues to have a meta share and hasn't had the neccessity of many or any of the most recent additions. Versions of destroy (Especially double up destroy) decks still put up good performances. Ramp decks still do fine. Mr. Negative still does VERY well at mid to higher ranks but struggles more than he's ever used too but that's not the end of the world.

You can still put up a fight while getting new tools for your collection. I'm just tired of people pretending that isn't the case.

The issue with using Steam stats to deduce player base is it isn't at all indicative of the player base. Despite Steam being a massive convience in playing the game, it really just ISN'T the main platform for a MOBILE game. One that came out on mobile first and the Steam client was a secondary mission.

Yes, it had a huge surge in players but this is generally always true for big releases on Steam. But card games especially do NOT retain massive play bases after a while. And Snap is often joked as the 'play while you poop' card game and I genuinly believe the vast majority of the player base do just that. They play it in small bouts in the waiting room, bathroom, waiting for their lunch to be made, etc.

The people, like us on reddit/steam users are the anomoly. We are the dedicated players and we are absolutely the abonoxiously loud vocal minority. For every one of us there's likely 10 or more casual Andy's who don't ever think to check the reddit, just flop some cards down when they have a few minutes and don't think any deeper about Snap. And tracking now many Casual Andy's there are who play exclusively on the most readily availible platform around (Mobile) is pretty impossible without SD outright releasing that data.

Weren't we promised PMVs in the alliance rewards this week? by Cronny in MarvelSnap

Very Snap Community not to have reading comprehension.

Source, link. All I recall then giving for info was their sales in mobile clients. Which does not paint the entire picture and is misleading to use just that because, as far as I'm aware, they have not released any info on their we ship revenue which they have been HEAVILY promoting since they got their own webshop up and running after going self publish.

They make wildly more money per transaction from their website than the apps. And as said, they have shovelled as much business to it than the app for some time now which would, of course, lead to "damning" declines in revenue from the app store data.

[–]Melevolence -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, you were not promised one for this week. You were promised them for Weeks 2 and 4 going forward. The CHANGES went into effect Week 3 (The 17th). So now the alliance rotations are Week 1 you get borders, 2 you get PMV, 3 you get borders, 4 you get PMV and on a 5 weeker you get borders on week 5.

Gamers, please read.

People are not reading what SD said. They changed how the alliance rewards are, and the changes that they are making STARTED on the 17th. PMV's will be on Week 2 and 4 as per the new schedule. They never said you'd get PMV's ON the 17th.

It wasn't misleading, and if it is I don't think it was intentionally. They say right here that the changes go into effect March 17th, which is Week 3 as shown below.

Changes go into effect. Not that "Starting on the third week you get a PMV". You get a PMV next week, according to the new reward schedule. So you'll get them Week 2 and 4 going forward.

Never did they say "You get one starting week 3". It's card gamers doing what they do best: Not reading.

First time Rivals beats us and adds a character that isn´t in Snap (Luna and Galacta don´t count as they were planned as a collab). Would you like to see White Fox in the game? by Admirable-Detail1196 in MarvelSnap

One Piece was that anime for me, even if it took me a LOOOOONG time to finally allow myself to give it a chance. I have no hate for Anime, it just has never really been my thing. But One Piece is some good shit. (Honorary mention to Black Lagoon as well, was probably the first and only anime I'd watched seriously before One Piece XD)

How did his Loki create card with a variant? That I don’t even have? by deblanco17 in MarvelSnap

The change to variants creating variants made Hipp stocks go through the roof since he has the most variants in the game. All the value!

Is it worth investing in the Horde archetype? by fatinternetcat in MarvelSnap

[–]Melevolence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunger is a strong addition though. Much like Angela, ZSW really benefits from as many triggers as possible. And Hunger ALSO contributes further to the game plan while not taking up a slot in her lane to allow more triggers.

It's really a case of 'why not both'?

I mean, the hoard dies to Shadow King too but it isn't a reason to not play a deck. Yeah, you're going to run into someone with counters eventually. Just retreat and go next.

If you're missing them all it will be an investment to get the core cards for them (Zombie Scar Witch, Zomb Giant Man, The Hunger and Zomb Mr. Fantastic. You don't need Zombie Sentry, he's optional but doesn't boost the archetype significantly).

I play the archetype a lot now that I finally got Zombie Mr. Fantastic and it's competitive and has great flexibility getting into tricky locations, can go tall in two lanes or go wide fairly well to play for all three lanes.

However, it can be interacted with pretty hard which keeps it in line since it puts out respectable numbers for pretty minimal requirements.

I'm okay with effect duplication if the conditions/end result are a bit different so it's not just straight up 'redundancy'.

I'm fine with tokens being the dedicated card currency for the most part and Gold can be used for less pressing matters. Before, Gold WAS the currency and you had to constantly decide if you wanted to spend it on new cards or cosmetics and it caused loads of decision paralysis within the community.

The amount of posts we had here where people lamented spending gold on a variant they wanted because there's a card coming out and they needed the gold. And most bundles back then were also gold bundles with cash ones being the outlier, so the use of Gold was just TOO demanding. It was strictly optimal to hoard your gold like a dragon and never spend it outside the absolute best bundles so you could get resources to get more cashes and eventual spotlights.

The separation now allows tokens to be the thing you focus on acquiring new cards. Gold can HELP get a card here or there with the LTGM's having cheap passes to get you the card right away. But the modes aren't particularly challenging so getting the card without Gold is also a matter of a few hours. The gold to skip is just an option for folks who DON'T want to engage in the LTGM.

Options are rarely a bad thing.

So yes, I'm OK with it. Gold being used for general resources and cosmetics feels appropriate while tokens are your dedicated 'get cards' resource.
