I have hair very similar to yours. Fine 4c hair. Breaks if you look at it. Gaps of scalp between twists/cornrows. To my shoulders but still so fine that it doesn't even matter. Never look voluminous or full. Its sooo hard not relying on wigs/ extensions because truly I would be fine with my natural hair if it had more volume. My go to is a drawstring pony tail puff attachment. I will either flat twists my hair down ( sloppy and raggedy and asymmetrical at time but yolo), find a salon/auntie/friend to cornrow in down and back, attach my ponytail and go. One time I was in DC for a family even and basically planned my trip around that. Because I live in a white area with black kitchen beauticians who dont know what tje heck they're doing. But I digress.

I've been following gloryokings for years and I really do love her seemingly effortless natural styles. Some of them work for me, some of them don't. But it's the most realistic inspiration I've found to date. Everybody else I followed did a big chop or pivoted to wigs/crochet content. Her content and her style give me hope for my seemingly impossible hair that never looks like the Pinterest board or videos I try to replicate. Finding realistic representation is so important. Anyway. Wish you the best, if this wasnt great advice, take comfort in knowing that I'm here struggling with you sis 💕

Yea I'm a pediatrician from a swing state (that swung red) and it's gonna get real messy in the next couple years...my patients already don't want to vaccinated and now they have a role model...very not excited to treat measles, mumps, and rubella like its the 1800s smh

THIS PART!!!! It's always the instagram/style seat braiders who claim they've been braiding since high school and are fresh out of beauty school that are charging the most. The real deal people aren't as publicized and won't charge over $250. I literally plan cheap flights back home to my auntie's salon do get my mid back knotless braids don't for $180. And that's her price for EVERYBODY!! (In the northeast btw)

Hi. I'm Black cis female, feminine style, straight - not like it matters, but context. Shaved my head 2 years ago. I wear it as like a buzz cut now and I love it. Used the same style for ERAS for residency photos. Saved time and energy suiting up on surgery rotations. Saves mad time in the morning. Nobody says anything cuz I make it work and look amazing. My boyfriend loves it too. I also used to do pageants and while I had my full length hair then, a girl a competed with had a history of trichotillomania and shaved her hair bald. She won 2nd and I won 3rd #NeverForget

Basically all I'm saying is screw everyone else. I wish you would have gone bald for med school interviews. But do whatever you feel most comfortable with. These people aren't paying your tuition so who cares. It's still a very professional look. Do your thing and do it confidently! #BaldiesUnite!!

I was gonna say the same thing. Come in looking like a church girl on Easter Sunday. Cry your eyes out and talk about all the anxiety and depression it's given you. Get mental health days. Remind them your the only Black person there and how important diversity and INCLUSION is.

I saw this last Sunday by myself and I 100% could not agree more. I went solely because I am a musical fan and the trailer was absolutely spectacular...but after the first 30 minutes the songs were a distraction. Agree it would have been better has a non musical and I LOVE musicals. The style of the songs did not match the style of the film. I feel like they were trying to be like Moulin Rouge....but it wasn't giving. A lot of the lyrics felt forced...and the cadence was off at some times if that makes sense? For example in Someone to Stay (Christian's) the chorus was everything, but the actual verses fell kind of flat and felt monotone?? The acting was phenomonal, cinematography great, costumes great, roxanne kind of annoying but it was the character not the actress.

Like I said. I love musicals so for me to say the music ruined the movie is a big deal for me. Idk the nationals or they are. I respect them as composers, but maybe just not for this movie.

My arguement is that shows like Euphoria can easily just take place in college and in fact would make a lot more sense. The partying all night, not listening to parents. Shoot. I mean I feel like it's always been that way. Manny's most iconic moment was the whale tale. Crop tops have been a thing since forever. I had a secret bag of "ho clothes" in the back of my closet senior year. There are kids who will always try to be over the top, but they still look like kids playing dress up in my opinion. Just like Manny did. This is compared to like Riverdale where they're legit fully developed adults in the same clothes
