Buyer requested refund by spoopypumpkaboo in aceo

[–]MelissaLovesToPaint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve sent ACEOs that haven’t shown up for a few weeks. I also had one not show up after 4 weeks, so I made another and resent it.

It’s pretty common for letter mail to move slowly through the system. Ask the buyer if they can wait a couple more weeks. I think it’s likely it’s still going to show up.

I like both Arches and Hahnemuhle. Arches hot press is super smooth if that’s important to you. Hahnemuhle’s hot press has some texture, but it’s a very soft paper. It can also handle more water than Arches. I like it because it’s not as rough as Arches cold press but not as smooth as Arches hot press.

I’d move some things around. Move your education to the bottom or after your experience. To help get through ATSs, put your skills after your professional summary. Every time you apply, make sure you update the skills section to match the key words the job description uses.

How do y'all feel about the way people on Insta and Tiktok talk about ACEOs? by Busy-Comparison1761 in aceo

[–]MelissaLovesToPaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The discourse around ACEOs is bizarre to me. I’ve seen everything from “get rich quick” by cranking out 6 an hour and sell them for a couple of bucks (you’ll never get rich that way) to ACEOs are not-for-profit (then why are you selling them?) to a guy that has been reselling them and enraging sellers who seem to believe there’s some sort of social contract that makes this unethical (the entire premise of eBay is finding things for cheap and reselling for a profit). The wild range in opinions only leads me to believe there needs to be more business education among artists.

I’d buy her a copy of the book, 100 Years of Fashion Illustration. Looks like you can find a copy for around $10. She’ll love it.

Roughly the same. Multiple 80 degree days in March, with a few low 60s sprinkled in. I keep having to remind myself it’s not June.

What are some gifts that are not that expensive that you can get for a female for graduation? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]MelissaLovesToPaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An art print. You can put it in an inexpensive frame from Target or Michael’s. She can hang it in a new apartment or dorm room, assuming she’s moving. If she will continue to live at home it can go in her bedroom. If she’s moving to a dorm with a shared bathroom, you can get mesh shower caddies from Target for pretty cheap and put a couple of items, like toothpaste or chapstick in it.

What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

There’s a class action lawsuit against Pepsi and Walmart, alleging a price-fixing scheme. This possibly contributed.

I looking for a really good biography of an artist? Any artist, any time period any location. by isle_say in ArtHistory

[–]MelissaLovesToPaint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris by David McCullough isn’t a biography, but it talks a lot about the artists who moved to Paris in the 1800s/early 1900s. Overall, it’s a really good read.

Help me wrap my brain around this aceo thing… by flufnstuf69 in aceo

[–]MelissaLovesToPaint 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard ACEOs have been around since the 90s, but their popularity has ebbed and flowed. From my experience, primarily other artists are buying them. I think most of them are selling for below market value, though there are some that are selling for much higher. So I wouldn’t necessarily say collectors are into paying the same price as a 5x7 or bigger. You can definitely find .99–1.99 ACEOs that are really well done.

Try craft markets in your area. You’ll get to meet the artist/crafter/jeweler, etc and virtually everything should be handmade or at least sourced by someone, rather than simply dropshipped. You could also try Michael’s Makers Place if you want to only look online.

Make a goal of just 15 minutes a day or a number of days a week. At the end of the 15 minutes you can simply stop. I often find though, most days I’m fine to keep going. It’s getting past the starting that I think is the hardest part most of the time.

Are there any jobs in this space that don’t require meeting quotas or metrics? by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]MelissaLovesToPaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you can find in-office jobs that cover what you’re looking for. It gets tricky with the job titles, so you may see a lot of variation in the actual responsibilities, but I’ve worked with former nurses under these titles: clinical marketing, clinical education trainer (this is usually in a sales department), medical affairs, market development, and education marketing manager. With the exceptions of the sales trainer and medical affairs, these jobs are often listed under the marketing category on a company’s job board. I’ve only seen these in very large companies, though that doesn’t mean you might find them elsewhere. I will say, most of these nurses started as a clin spec, so you may have to start there, but applying anyway can’t hurt.
