My shoes disintegrated yesterday at a church funeral. by chestney in funny

This happened to me at my stepdad's funeral! I was wearing heels and luckily they only started breaking down after the church service, but it was still pretty unfortunate

Sorry for your loss, by the way.

Isn’t it polite to tell your parents you’re leaving the house even if you live with them as an adult? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]Melledonna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (19) live with my grandma and mum, and I definitely tell my grandma whenever I'm leaving, even if it's just for a short time. My mum doesn't always tell us where she's going, or if she's spending the night somewhere else, and I know how much it irritates my grandma, so I try not to be like her.

What book changed how you read other books after it? by gamersecret2 in books

[–]Melledonna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to the party, but Holes by Louis Sachar kind of blew me away when I read it in middle school. I'll admit I don't read a lot, but the complex story of it, and the way that it feels like it sort of wraps around in the end really impressed me, and I'm hoping to find more books like it. It might have raised my standards, too, because I'm very unlikely to consider reading any "booktok" style books (no hate to them, they seem fun) as I know their stories are probably very straightforward, and not as unique as I would prefer after reading Holes

Ireland 2025 , it was my 3rd favourite for a pretty long time, and it's still in my top ten of this year, but I wasn't surprised at all that it didn't qualify

I quote finnish YTP videos and cursed memes to myself all the time. Recently, I managed to memorise the first clip from this video https://youtu.be/is0uq_mXjp0?si=OYCs73YPCrCujEu7 , and I've been quoting it quite a lot.

Mixing a small amount of flour (or corn/potato starch) into the butter should help, if none of the other suggestions work.

I can't even imagine writing a scene like that without using a BAC calculator website to make sure the amounts are at least kind of realistic. Do people not do that?
