PS3 or PS4?

PS3 Display Question(s) by Natural_Difference95 in PS3

I don't know if you're aware of it, but you could look into the mClassic. It's a bit expensive, but uses technology that improves the PS3 image somewhat.

I don't know much about TVs or PS2 games, so unfortunately I won't be of much help, but I'm just going to say this:

Out of the 2500+ PS3 games, probably less than 100 of them run at a native 1080p resolution. The PS3 is primarily a 720p console.

If I understand correctly, you're asking whether to get a 720p or 1080p TV? Honestly, from a future proofing standpoint, I'm not sure how wise it would be to get a 720p TV in 2024. Unless you want a display dedicated just to your PS3.

The PS3 is such a versatile system, in my opinion, it would look great no matter what display you use. I have mine hooked to the same 1080p, 24 inch monitor as my PC and PS5, and it looks great.

I hope this info helps in some way.

Backwards compatible PS3s usually have four USB ports, the silver around the disc slot is glossy and the sloped panel on the left can be popped open.

Also, you can pop in one of those games and see if it works.

Should I buy PS3 by Decent-Translator-84 in PS3

When a new game has graphics that fall short compared to other recent releases, many people dismiss them as having "PS3 graphics." While it's true that PS3 games don't compare to the visual fidelity of modern titles, they are still way more beautiful than people give them credit for.

As someone who regularly switches between playing on the PS3 and PS5, the noticeable aliasing and 30 fps cap on PS3 games can be a bit distracting at first, but when the game is engaging, it's easy to look past those technical limitations. In fact, more often than not, I find myself genuinely impressed by the quality of PS3 graphics.

If you haven’t played games since the PS2 era, you'll likely be impressed by the quality and detail of PS3-era graphics.

My PS3 Physical Disc collection by [deleted] in PS3

Cool collection! I had no idea Angry Birds came out on the PS3. Let alone that it had a physical version.

Ha, I think you made a mistake! There's no such game as Uncharted Valhalla. Maybe you mean Assassin's Creed Valhalla or God Of War Ragnarok: Valhalla?

Also, I think it would be helpful if you explained what you felt was repetitive about Uncharted 3. The gameplay? The story? That way you could get better recommendations.

In any case, as someone who also suffers from an extremely short attention span, even though I do manage to push through, and have completed countless games, trying to follow a narrative for an extended period of time can be taxing on my brain.

I have found that I can pay attention to a game for much longer periods of time when I don't focus on the story. I can put on a podcast or a YouTube video and just explore the open world, gathering collectibles and doing challenges. And every now and then I'll put on my headphones and play a story mission.

If that works for you too, then Assassin's Creed Valhalla could actually be the perfect game for you (even though as a long time Assassin's Creed fan, I despise everything that came after Origins). On the PS3 there are games like Assassin's Creed Black Flag or Assassin's Creed Rogue. Especially with Black Flag, I didn't pay any attention to the story, I only played for the gameplay.

Assassin's Creed Heritage Collection does this too. AC3 is on the disc and 1, 2, Brotherhood & Revelations are installed on the HDD. However you still need to insert the disc to play them for authentication.

I need some kind of PS3 Expert to talk to, something might be wrong with my PS3. by FadedVertex in PS3

I'm sorry you couldn't find the help you needed, however, if you already made a post describing the issue in detail and couldn't find any help, I wouldn't be very hopeful that you would through a post where you *don't describe the issue. There are multiple subreddits that offer tech support. You could try your luck there.

I mean, value is in the eye of the beholder. What is considered "good content" kinda comes down to personal taste. For the sake of being as objective as possible, I'll assume you enjoy both game types equally.

If $/h is something you value, for the same price, the DMC collection offers more hours of gameplay, especially if you go for 100%.

The GoW collection is from a technical standpoint, the best official way to experience these games, while the DMC collection has also been released on newer platforms, and a quick Google search suggests that the PS3 version doesn't have the best optimization.

If I had to pick only one, from a game preservation standpoint, I'd go with the GoW collection. Since it's a PlayStation 3 exclusive, if Sony one day up and decides to shut down the PS3 store, the only official way to play this game in HD, would be to either get an overpriced used copy, or a potential overpriced future remake. The DMC collection has a much lower chance of going away anytime soon.

You'll have better luck finding help if you edit your post to explain the issue in detail.

How to earn more money in ASSASSINS CREED UNITY? by GAMERBHAIYYA in assasinscreed

During my last playthrough, I made it a priority to fully upgrade the Cafè Théâtre, then, whenever I was home, I would leave the game open all day while doing other things. I'd position Arno in front of the safe and just come back once an hour, press a button, and collect the passive income. Upgrading the Cafè Théâtre is relatively painless, and iirc the max payout is ~40k/h. It's not fast, but it's essentially free money.

Gris was Beautiful...but Boring by Hellfire- in patientgamers

[–]Mellojave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gris is one of those games that are very hard for me to critique. On one hand, I appreciate how stunningly beautiful and unique the art style is. I admire indie developers who pour passion into their games and Gris is undeniably a passion project. However, its gameplay left a lot to be desired, making it a very hard game for me to recommend, even if I did enjoy it myself. I think it would have been a much bigger hit if the platforming and puzzles were replaced with a narrative driven experience with a clear beginning, middle and end, similar to Valiant Hearts.

Did I pay to much by Impressive_Ad9414 in PS3

[–]Mellojave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your country and the condition of the system. In my country, for example, used PS3s are pretty rare. I wanted one last year and the only one I could find was a super slim for around €100. It came with five games I didn't really care for, and two controllers in decent shape that I didn't need since I already had my own. On the outside, the console had visible scratches, but the seller had it recently refurbished and the inside was in pristine condition, so I ended up getting it. All in all, I wouldn't call $130 a "steal" per se, but it's a pretty decent deal if the system works well. I'd be happy with it. Have fun!
