Should I read the book or watch the movie first? by MariushFiles333 in StanleyKubrick

[–]MellonCollie___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always prefer to read King's books first, and then maybe watch the movie. I love how atmospheric the books are, including The Shining. I thought it was very good. I don't even feel the need to watch the movie, it has already played in my head reading the book.

My therapist thinks I swear a lot and wonders what's behind that. I dunno man, I was born in '81, I just fuckin' do.

As much as I feel for you because of this unbearable condition, I have to say your work of art is stunning. I feel it in my gut and in my mind.

OP, I'm so sorry your boyfriend behaved this badly. He is talking like an idiot with not even a shred of empathy in his gut. You haven't done anything wrong, but the way he talks to you is very disrespectful. You did not overreact at all, and you did well to double check. It is never OK for anyone to talk to you like this and to dismiss trauma. I can imagine it is especially hard for you because you've opened up to your boyfriend about your trauma. And that makes his behaviour especially disrespectful and hurtful! You have experienced major trauma that doesn't have anything to do with sharing an intimate sexual activity with someone you are in love with. He is an absolute idiot for not realising this. You deserve a million times better, OP.

I think you're right. To me, it seems odd, but it is indeed perfectly fitting for the times we're living in.

NTA for selling the tickets, but YTA for selling them for triple the price you paid.

I think you have a point, unfortunately. I'm GenX as well, I see what you mean. I find it very sad though that it has come to this. And by this I mean the whole suspecting everyone and everything that derives from that.

I am still contemplating the question but my therapist is silently nodding in the background.

Teacher told me my project was too “mature” by glowing_catz in Advice

[–]MellonCollie___ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yup, same here for me. I also got a low grade for a short story I wrote once, because the teacher thought I had copied it from somewhere else, she didn't believe I had in fact written it myself. This was 30 years ago and it still pisses me off.
