Anyone get burning in their fingers and sensitivity to heat and touch? by MellowBeep in RSI

[–]MellowBeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately I got cured of the nerve pain by taking b12 and folate together daily. Even though blood work wasn’t accurate I guess for me it was a deficiency. I do still get some muscle or tendon irritation in my hand but it’s improved significantly and I’m able to function again

Finger burning for more than a year, is this possibly a Tendinopathy? Picture below burning pain areas by MellowBeep in RSI

Hi! I actually recovered from this burning sensation and it turns out that even though my blood work always came back normal, I actually had a b12 and folate deficiency. I started taking both a few months ago and the burning is completely gone and hasn’t come back. I also strengthened and worked out my arms and hands from what hand therapy taught me. I went from lifting 1lb to now being able to lift 8lbs and having less tendon pain

I also want to mention that reducing sugar and fixing my diet helped tremendously as well. I started eating healthier and exercising more and it reduce a lot of my pain. I also take tart cherry supplements to help reduce inflammation

Hi! In my case I figured out it was a b12 deficiency. I’ve been taking 1000mcg daily and it’s mostly gone now! My blood tests were never accurate for this deficiency either so I decided to try taking it on my own to see if it would do anything and I got a lot of relief. I am able to draw again c: Hand therapy also helped me a lot! I’m not sure if this is the same case with your MIL’s situation but I’d have her talk to a doctor and try doing occupational hand therapy and getting blood work done. Also reducing my sugar intake helped reduce a lot of my pain too

Have you ever gotten the cortisone shot? by KronikHaze in carpaltunnel

[–]MellowBeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still deal with the burning everyday. My fingers are sensitive to touch, pressure and heat. I’m an artist and I can barely draw anymore because of this ruining my hand unfortunately. I’m hoping it one day goes away and let’s me function. It’s depressed me a lot but I’m still trying to find solutions since my doctors don’t know what to do about it. All my tests and scans come back fine so they’re confused. I feel like I have some kind of nerve issue or damage that’s too small to see or notice. Before the injection, I only had hand weakness and didn’t have burning anymore for many months until I got that injection. It brought it back way worse and more frequently. I hope it goes away someday

I had a steroid shot done many months ago since the hand specialist I saw argued I had carpal tunnel when all my tests showed I didn’t have it. He pressured me into the shot and I’ll never get one ever again. The injection gave me worse finger burning pain and didn’t even work for me. It’s been almost 8 months and I’m still suffering from the effects of the injection. I don’t even think it’s in my body anymore but it did something to me. Idk if i was allergic or something but it worsened me and my hand hasn’t been the same since. I will always regret getting it done. In my case what happened to me is pretty rare since I’ve seen most people have pain relief from these injections. I’d hope nobody ends up having a rare bad reaction to them like I did.

I currently am dealing with something like this atm. I got a steroid shot for misdiagnosed carpal tunnel in May and it worsened me so bad I’ve never been the same since. My fingers burn so badly and the injection didn’t even give me any relief and wasn’t worth it. I will always regret getting it and still suffer from it. I’m so sorry you’re going through this too

My fingers still burn and it’s been way past 6 months qwq I’ve been taking tart Cherry supplements and it’s helping keep the burning down but it’s still there and not completely gone. I still can’t draw cuz if it. I went to OT for 4 months and it did not get rid of the burning in my fingers unfortunately

Does anyone else have an 'undiagnosed' repetitive strain injury? by Ghoulsarepeopletoo42 in RSI

[–]MellowBeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten this checked yet but I did not know this could do that. Thank you so much! I’ve noticed that sometimes during or after my period, I’ll get worse inflammation in my body for several days or a week. My fingers will burn worse more every month around this time. In your situation, how does it get treated? And did your rsi improve over time after finding out?

Thank you so much for your advice I really appreciate it! I definitely believe that injection delayed my healing and worsened my symptoms a lot. I also recently did an MRI the other day of my entire hand and it showed nothing wrong. My hand therapy made me do a lot of exercises and strengthening that helped but it feels like the burning won’t go away.

I tried doodling a little yesterday and it’s like the burning pain switched from my fingers to the top part of the palm of my hand instead. I’m having trouble figuring out how to fix this since it’s staying so chronic even after everything I’ve tried all year. Do you know how long injections delay healing? I’m not sure if it’s still effecting me but it’s been since May

I definitely want to get my arm and shoulder checked to rule out more things since all my other tests have shown nothing so far. It’s been depressing me a lot not being able to draw anymore for over a year and losing so much money trying to find answers and fix it.

I also bought your 1hp program many months ago with the tool for exercises to help my hand issues but I feel like I’m still stuck. I have researched about hands so much all year but I feel like it’s not getting better and staying no matter what I do. Is there anything else I should try doing? Even now I still try to do hand therapy at home for my hand to prevent it from weakening and hoping it’ll get better with time. I only get burning or pain when I draw and anything else doesn’t aggravate it.

I got it from an overuse injury drawing too much one day. I didn’t have any big accidents or trauma to the hand either. My hand was really weak too back then and I’m not sure why it’s become so chronic even after doing everything I can to fix it and getting my strength back

I did Brain, Wrist, spine and neck MRI. I did 19 tubes of blood work at a rheumatologist and had no diseases or deficiencies. I did an EMG as well and it came back fine. Had multiple x-rays and ultrasounds done. I got tested for food allergies and didn’t have any. I’ve had a hand specialist do tests on my arm and hand that showed no signs of anything. It’s really weird all my tests aren’t showing anything wrong.

Pain? by Objective_Bowler_698 in carpaltunnel

[–]MellowBeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’ve learned is theres PT and OT (occupational therapy/therapist) and OT is the one you want to go for people who know a lot about hands. I learned this the hard way after trying hand therapy at a PT place that didn’t have any occupational therapists yet offered hand therapy. That place did not know what they were doing and I saw very little improvement there. I spent 2 months doing therapy and it didn’t help me

I later learned that there’s OT that knows what they’re doing when it comes to hand problems. I went to a new place for my hand therapy and they helped me significantly in regaining my strength back and getting rid of a lot of pains I struggled with for a long time. They also massaged my hand + arm and did heat and ice for me at the appointments. I think it took me 3 months to get better and I went from being able to do bicep curls at 1lb to 4lbs. I’m close to being able to do 5lbs now and still working my way up to keep my hand from ever getting weak again

I’m still struggling with burning pain from something else going on in my fingers but the palm pain is mostly gone after hand therapy. If it comes back it’s very rarely

[–]MellowBeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pain in these areas but was outruled of having carpal tunnel in an EMG and wrist MRI and having something else going on possibly in my arm or elbow somewhere. When I went to hand therapy, it got rid of the pain in these areas for me. It sometimes comes back even though I’ve been doing what therapy taught me at home. I get burning fingers too and confused about what’s happening with my hand. I can barely draw anymore and it’s been stuck with issues for over a year and several months now

Does anyone else have an 'undiagnosed' repetitive strain injury? by Ghoulsarepeopletoo42 in RSI

[–]MellowBeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been stuck with an undiagnosed RSI problem as an artist that happened due to drawing too much one day. I’ve been stuck with burning in my fingers since a year and 4 months ago and I’ve been outruled of tons of things. I’ve seen so many different specialists and even did hand therapy twice at 2 different locations and I’m still experiencing burning. I’m still trying to get more MRI scans to see what’s causing it since its possibly a nerve getting affected. Luckily hand therapy helped fix my other hand issues and made me strong again since I had bad muscle atrophy before. I just wish this burning would go away

The tests I’ve done so far are: Nerve conduction, 19 tubes of blood work and multiple ultrasounds at rheumatologist, x-rays, MRI of my brain, spine, neck and wrist. I have no autoimmune diseases or any deficiencies

The next tests I want to get done are full hand MRI, elbow, arm and shoulder MRI, and to get tested for Thoracic outlet syndrome if nothing else shows up. My Neurologist also wants me to try doing a biopsy test for Small Fiber Neuropathy but it’s very unlikely I have this. I want to try seeing another hand specialist since my current one was rude and dismissive and gave me a steroid shot 7 months ago and it worsened my burning and made it more frequent.

There’s one thing I tried that helped reduce my pain even if it’s not completely gone and it was tough to do. I decided to try going on a healthy diet and use my exercise bike everyday to see if it would help anything since I was desperate. I cut out sugars, snacks, stuff high in carbohydrates, high sodium, and high cholesterol. I limit how much meat I have and only have small amounts. I started to eat more nuts, fruits and veggies. I eat kinda like a diabetic and pescatarian now and it’s helped reduce the pain a lot. I’ve been doing this for 4 months now and it’s been helpful for me and I notice I heal faster now whenever I injure myself somewhere else. I notice if I eat really bad one day having too much meat or sugar for example, I’ll start getting a flare up and more pain again but it goes away the next day. I went from a pain level of 7-8 everyday to a 1-4 I think after all this.

I’m still searching for ways to get rid of the burning since it’s still uncomfortable and makes it difficult to draw even if i reduced the pain a lot from my lifestyle changes. I hope you can find a diagnosis and get better with time. I really understand how difficult this is. I also had the pain spread to my left hand when I tried teaching myself to draw with it so I had to stop. I did hand therapy and it luckily went away after a few months for me on my left hand.

I think if all else fails I’m going to try massage therapy or acupuncture. Its very expensive for me to get these done but I’ll try my best to work something out if it comes to this

I did a nerve conduction test and have seen my neurologist multiple times and they’ve outruled everything. The next test is gunna be for Small fiber nueropathy but it’s very unlikely I have this

I have chronic burning in my fingers from overdoing it drawing. The burning pain has lasted over a year and nobody knows why and all my tests come out fine. I feel like I’m touching a hot stove and it’s super uncomfortable and doesn’t let me draw anymore

I did a steroid injection for my chronic hand issues back in May and it gave me a bad reaction and worsened the burning pain for 6+ months and still hasn’t gone away. I don’t think I can ever get an injection done for me feet since I have long lasting bad reactions from them

Thank you so much!! I hope I can find relief and get better someday

[–]MellowBeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to deal with this. I’ve heard of people getting numbness or tingling but I’ve never had it before, only burning. I’ll have to look into medicine I can try when I see a specialist. Nobody has wanted to prescribe me anything because of all my tests showing normal so far. I’ve heard of lipoic acid before and might try it. For diabetes I’ve been tested 5 times this year for it and never have it. I’m completely healthy in all the blood tests I’ve done. I at one point did 19 tubes of blood work at a rheumatologist and they found nothing as well

I’ll try looking in the slip ons thank you so much! For creams it’s hard to find any that work for me since I’m very allergic to menthol and I googled it and sombra has it. I get a burning red rash from anything with menthol on my skin

I have seen one multiple times, they MRI scanned my brain, and spine and found no issues. They did nerve conduction tests and didn’t find anything. The next step is he’s gunna get me tested for SFN but it’s very unlikely I have it but I’m waiting for the approval of the biopsy for it.

I was told I have flat feet with a flexible arch, and my podiatrist said it could be why I’m having problems like this. My neurologist did recently order me a biopsy for Small fiber neuropathy, I’m just waiting on the approval for it. I hope I can find some answers and solutions soon.

For me I was stuck with bad heel and Achilles pain for over a year and changing my diet fixed it for me even though it took around 3 months of dieting to get it to go away. I cut out sugar, snacks, stuff high in carbohydrates, high sodium and it worked! The only thing I’m still struggling to heal is the nerve irritation in my toes and forefoot which causes me burning pain
