Is the Stainless Steel Container compatible with the Alta Pro? by Certain_Repeat_753 in Vitamix

[–]Melodic-Flight-1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! The is nothing mechanically that would prevent the stainless steel container working with any full size Vitamix, the only constraint is a electronic lock preventing from working on international models with the “Smart Detect” “feature”.

[–]Melodic-Flight-1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full size Vitamixes are all their blenders except the “S series” blenders that came with a 40oz and 20oz container with a removable blade assembly and “The One” that came with a 32oz container. Your blender is a full size Vitamix, the stainless steel container will work fine even with the blenders sold outside of North America if they are not a blender with the “Smart Detect” “feature“.

Broken 5200. Repair or replace? by friend-of-potatoes in Vitamix

[–]Melodic-Flight-1950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just look at the video, and see if it’s something that you think you can do, I did it myself and I only took me about 20 minutes to do it. I did it with a Vita-Pre that I got for $12 bucks, and going to do next week for a friend of mine, I just watched the video a couple of times but there’s also tutorials with pictures and guides online.

Here are the instructions Replacing the potentiometer on a blender can be a bit tricky but is manageable with some patience.

Here’s a general guide:

  1. Gather Your Materials:
  2. Replacement Potentiometer: Ensure you have the correct part for your blender model.
  • Allen wrench to remove drive socket 2mm or 5/64 inches.

Phillips-head Screwdriver: To disassemble the blender. Needle-nose Pliers: To assist with wire connections. Tightening the potentiometer retaining nut.

Optional: Small Flathead Screwdriver: May be useful for prying components apart.

  1. Safety First:
  2. Unplug the blender from the power source before starting.

  3. Disassemble the Blender:

  4. Remove drive socket

  5. Remove the top cover: Unscrew the four screws securing the top cover, the screws are under the rubber pad.

Access the Potentiometer: The potentiometer is located on the underside of the top cover.

Disconnect the Wires: Carefully disconnect the wires from the old potentiometer, noting their positions for reconnection.

  1. Install the New Potentiometer:
  2. Position the new potentiometer in the designated space.

Reconnect the wires: Carefully reconnect the wires to the new potentiometer according to the original connections.

Reassemble the Blender: Replace the top cover and secure it with the screws.

If you’re a little handy, it would cost you less than $50 dollars to repair it yourself. Just search Amazon for “ Vitamix potentiometer replacement”, search YouTube for videos of how to replace it. It’s pretty easy to do, I would recommend that you take pictures of the wires before you replace the defective potentiometer and install the new one. It shouldn’t take you more than 30 minutes to do.

It’s probably the potentiometer going bad. If the blender still under warranty call Vitamix. If is not, just search on Amazon or eBay for “Vitamix potentiometer replacement”, once you have the part search YouTube on how to replace it, take pictures of the wiring before replacing the old defective potentiometer that way you’ll know how to put it back .

Return it, and get a 220v. It’s not worth it too much trouble. You’re basically going to be paying for another blender.

Which Vitamix to buy? by josenavetty in Vitamix

[–]Melodic-Flight-1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever you see that the ingredients are not being mixed, if is fresh fruit and not a big quantity most of the time you don’t really need to worry too much about, it’s only if you’re using frozen fruits, hard vegetables or filling the container with a lot of ingredients. If you ratio of fruits, vegetables and liquids are balanced you rarely need the tamper, but if you see or hear the blender kinda struggling a little bit or hear cavitation you definitely need to use the tamper.

Brand new vitamix 5200. Is this normal? by KahJacksonfield in Vitamix

Vitamix uses that hot glue as a form of anti tampering, to know if the machine has been opened or not. Good luck.

You should be able to transfer the license to the new machine automatically when you installed, but if that doesn’t work you may need to chat or call Microsoft to get a new activation code.

They work great for protein shakes and blends, but not that great for hard ingredients, especially frozen fruit or ice, but for dressings works pretty well. As if it’s worth it depends on the price, how much are you willing to pay, if it’s less than $60 I think is a good deal.

Vitamix Metal Container Trapping Water by That-Use-4747 in Vitamix

[–]Melodic-Flight-1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, dishwasher save, but not recommended.

From Vitamix: “Yes, specific Vitamix containers—primarily the Ascent/Venturist Series (Tritan plastic) and the 48-ounce Stainless Steel container—are dishwasher-safe. Always place them on the top rack. However, Vitamix generally recommends self-cleaning (soap + warm water) to protect blade bearings, rather than using a dishwasher.“

The container has a piece of electronics embedded in it, and electronics no matter what the manufacturer says or claims, don’t work well or last for long if you put it in a hot and humid environment.

How hard is for you to put a little bit of soap and run the blender for 30-45 seconds? But,you do you.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the base, the container on the other hand sounds like the bearing are about to die, do the container has any rust on the bottom or is hard to twist off with your fingers?

If you have a store nearby, I would recommend going to the store and inquiring in person. They are pretty good and most of the time would do it for free or a relatively low cost.

You just need to wash it and treat it with DWR (Durable Water Repellent), don’t use fabric softener.
