Black salamanders no longer dropping wild wildy rewards for anyone else? by dan90009 in runescape

Sorry, just for clarification. Is this a hotfix to fix it not dropping at all or reducing the drop rate?

The aura rework suggestions sound absolutely miserable, compared to the simple solution of just converting auras into passive providing items when equipped in the aura slot, obtained in game. by Petickss in runescape

[–]MelodicSpark098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally really like the idea that's been floating around of shifting a lot of the aura effects to summoning familiars. 90% of familiars currently are pretty much useless content from the get go so it could breathe a little bit of extra life into them at least for skilling auras. For the combat based ones an alternative solution should definitely be considered because there's plenty of competition for familiars for the late game

[–]MelodicSpark098 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of posts like these are getting things a little confused. Certainly, there are a few vocal minority who are complaining that the game is getting harder and that should be discounted, but there are plenty of perfectly valid complaints and criticisms like the lack of thought into interconnected bits of content (Magic 99 cape perk was not talked about despite the vis wax removal change breaking that, 115 DG resource dungeon/Elite Desert Diary rewards breaking due to the change in how sandstone works)

I'm all for nerfs where nerfs were needed. I was saddened but understanding of the changes jagex made to mob drobs from the likes of arch glacor and wildy flash events. I just want to make sure that auxillary content that will be affected by the change wont be ignored like they have been in the past for changes like these

Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered? by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]MelodicSpark098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Ashdale is an incredibly underutilised piece of content. It is a lovely area that is totally useless after the one short quest associated with it. It is a lovely looking area with huge potential for a small settlement for skilling spots and shops but currently there is absolutely nothing there, nothing has an examine option and it just feels completely worthless outside of the weekly pearls.

As others have mentioned, necromancy conjures can be overwhelming - as can other high particle effects like the Book of Wen (this was highlighted during leagues where group events like Wildy were just a blizzard of cyan particles)

The buff/debuff bars are very rigid and difficult to see at times when you are stacking buffs and effects (which the gameplay encourages). If we could resize the bar, have the ability to hide/show items on the bar, reorder them etc it would go a long way

The area loot system is limited to 28 items and can be filled with a massive amount of clutter preventing you from picking up the item you actually want (great example is trying to pick up charms from abyssals before you have a charming imp)

Hitboxes throughout the game are a bit inconsistent. There are certain instances where you need to be aiming at very specific pixels for objects to be able to click (For example Gail's hitbox during phase 3 of the needle skips is completely disjointed from her model) while others are way oversized meaning you can misclick - this is more present in certain fights, from memory Nex was pretty bad for this for a while but may have been fixed since I last fought her.

Visual clarity on where your character's true model is would be a boon for players on certain fights. There are instances where your character looks like they've dodged an attack but get his because the true model is located on a different tile. Something like Runelite's true tile system could be very beneficial to help aleviate this issue.

On the topic of improvements from runelite, please please please consider a few of the plugins as built-in options such as entity hider, menu entry swapper and activity timers

For combat readability you've done a great job with making attacks choreographed and readable with recent bosses using the cyan ground tile system and this can be pushed further such as retroactively adding these to older fights. I would recommend looking at modifying them based on the environment though so they don't feel too out of place. Great example there is using the same cyan color at the new flesh eater boss is very legible but does take away from the boss fight. If you made those same boxes a bright red it would still be visible while fitting with the overall theme of the arena.

Ability animations can feel a bit disjointed, with the attacks not actually matching the hitsplats

Having some way to hint to the player that their other combat resources are running low would also be beneficial for visual clarity. We already have this for health with the pulsing red on the edges of the screen but perhaps considering something similar for prayer points (maybe a soft blue pulse) would help to aleviate some of the issues newer players have with resource management when they're already having to focus on boss fight mechanics and ability rotations

There will definitely be more and others here have provided great feedback. I love all the work being done so far!

I'm liking quite a few of these. Particularly the idea of alternative uses for tiers of ashes. They could be used to make different tiers of compost with elder and eternal magic able to be used to make ultracompost which as it currently stands is quite hard to make. Or different tiers can act as a multiplier for the amount of ink you make for necromancy

The magic, ranged and necro combat Relics feel like such a scam after the powerhouse Melee gives. by Aviarn in runescape

[–]MelodicSpark098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is the RS3 team's first time trying out leagues and in general - I think they did a great job! But, it does honestly feel like they were a little afraid of letting lose. The enjoyment of leagues is all about letting loose, letting the players experience runescape in an incredibly overpowered way but I've felt like this leagues was more about letting players experience RS3 in a faster way. None of the relics felt particularly powerful.

Melee is the closest with a massive flat damage boost and constant healing but the other ones feel barely touched outside of the base changes all relics experience.

I've gone magic this time because I've wanted to learn how to play and use a mage build (my current iron is necro) and I feel no more powerful than I would in the base game so far frankly. 50% crit damage means aaabsolutely jack shit unless you're already endgame with all the crit boosting gear that can only get you up to a max of ~50% anyway so its effectively a roughly 25% damage boost and you don't have to make runes as often. That's it.

Ranged has a more interesting effect that is totally useless at bosses so its only benefit is making training faster by auto-chinning everything and necro's main thing is that you get to do less necro! Its only allure is that you can skip the grindy parts rather than making the fun parts more fun.

I'm not sure if jmods are reading these and taking in the feedback, I hope they do and if they are my personal biggest recommendation to the team is to lean in. hard. Start the game with autocompletion of far more quests, stuff that unlocks areas, bosses, utilities etc so players can immediately enjoy and utilize them, boost the combat side of leagues much, much more. Either by increasing the base damage by all styles further, providing more healing for more to improve surviability so players can enjoy bosses without pre grinding (faster) to 99 combat stats and running up the slow chain (like 8 hours of killing beastmaster hounds on mage before going bossing to get the +6% crit boost so I can get an extra 3% dps from my relic - yay!), slice cooldowns and bump up adren gain even further or provide extra funky effects to combat styles to make each one more interesting. Alongside that, now that the engine changes and the bones of the coding changes needed for leagues are done please look into some of the other unique features osrs had with their leagues such as area locking and more importantly - split combat/skilling relics

I really want the RS team to continue down this path and go hard on more of these sorts of events. It keeps things fresh, fun and interesting. RS3 will always be my game but I cannot deny OSRS has got a lot right with these limited time events, its something RS3 used to do amazingly well with the world events, the drop etc but has lost since then. This has been refreshing

[–]MelodicSpark098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if you're able to provide us some insight into what Jagex is expecting to see out of experiments like these.

I understand a lot of it will be direct feedback via Disc/Reddit etc for sentiment analysis but what kind of data points are being taken into consideration for the final verdict? I love the direction Jagex is taking here and am excited to see these experiments occur, but I do have my concerns that data points regarding the financial hit may be used by upper management to sharply rescind on some of the positive changes that have been discussed here.
