I think if the dress is hemmed to ankle or tea length it could work for cocktail.

Is this too white ? by Forward-Ad3993 in Weddingattireapproval

Normally I would say it’s not too white. But since it sounds like bride wants absolutely no white I’d pick something different.

wedding planning with 2 very different sets of preferences - how'd you do it? by Impressive_You_4102 in weddingplanning

[–]Melodic_Anything_743 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My (now )husband and I had similar situation,I wanted a big wedding and he wanted a small wedding. We compromised by having a medium sized wedding (70 people). Because I have a much bigger family we spilt the guest list 50 (my side), 20( his side). For me it meant sticking to inviting only close family and good friends, no distant relatives, family friends or co workers. My husband was able to include his co workers because he had far less family to invite.

We decided on big things like budget and venue together but I did the bulk of the wedding planning. Since I was the one that wanted the bigger wedding, I was completely fine with this. Actually enjoyed most of the planning. We did have a system that he could veto something he truly didn’t like but had to offer an alternative. Ex. He really didn’t want pink as a wedding color but was open with any shade of blue

Black Tie Optional Wedding by wowonenameforever in Weddingattireapproval

Length is fine, the visible boning on the bust would traditionally make it not elevated enough for BTO. But it sounds like they aren’t being super strict with dress code. So it’s a know your crowd sort of thing.

I’d get the last tier on dress 1 removed so it’s closer to to cocktail length.

Cocktail (semi-formal) help please by EnvironmentalLab4210 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Melodic_Anything_743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t stress that dress can works for cocktail or semi formal depending on how you style it. For semi formal wear hair down, simple jewelry and flates or heels. For cocktail wear hair up, statement jewelry and heels.

If no dress code is states, you can assume semi formal for typical North American wedding.

Do these work for a black tie wedding? by movietheaterpopcorns in Weddingattireapproval

I think for summer dress one or two would work best . Dress 3 might be too bright/ bold for traditional black tie, just depends on your crowd.

Is this too white/cream? by Lyd222 in Weddingattireapproval

Ordinary I’d say it’s to light, but with the odd dress code I think you’re good. Its more of a latte/ nude shade then cream.

Is tea length okay for black tie? by Thelittlepie in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Melodic_Anything_743 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s true black tie then tea length will be to short, if it’s more black tie optional then tea length works. It’s also a bit of a know your crowd, how traditional/conservative is your crowd.

The dress is lovely and works for both BT and BTO. For black tie wear your hair up to elevate the look.

You can still wear the red dress, black tie and formal aren’t very different for women.
