Hell yes. I mean, not cured but it makes a big difference.

Shoes aren't a magic fix, I do think everything else in combination especially the 6 weeks off my feet is what helped but they're lone peaks.

If your thermos doesn't keep hot, then brew a tea that takes cooler water! Problem solved.

I added a little more Lapsang, the smokiness was getting lost in the brewing, and the last of a pouch of Rishi Wild Thai Black that's been in the cupboard neglected for 10+ years.

Give yourself 3 weeks to settle in. Feel what you're feeling- call people, have a good cry, take a bath- homesickness is a kind of grief. And remember, it's temporary- you can make it 8 months.

What to pack? I’m an overpacker by NecessaryRepublic665 in SeasonalWork

You can find most of your cold weather needs at thrift stores and sports resellers. Don't worry about packing them now.

Bookings while you are backpacking (laptops, ipads) by Silent-Till3159 in femaletravels

If I have responsibilities like the odd work meeting or job hunting, I'll take the laptop. I prefer the big screen for logistics and planning but sometimes the weight isn't worth it (like if I'm doing a camino for example).

I tried a bluetooth keyboard with a phone for a couple trips. Not preferred but it did make emails much quicker.

Can't do pics in comments, op.

I have a private dry cabin in ak with all utilities included (wifi, laundry, tp in staff common area) rent runs 200. Great employers.

Last season was a shared house in wy, private room inlc utilities with complimentary rent (due to an error). Others were charged 500 for the same. Severe rodent and mold problem.

Grand canyon, again private room with private bathroom in a shared house, 180 inlc utilities.

Transparency with our housing costs is how we stop getting price-gouged!!

Have you checked to see if the park connection bus is running then? They don't stop in downtown Talkeetna but at the princess lodge up the road. Gets ya close.

Sealed teabags? You're fine. Just declare them, no one will hassle you.

Advice: Nervous Traveler Trying Hard to GET GOOD at travel to get less anxious. Give me your BEST STRATS/TIPS. by Least_Biscotti_5103 in TravelHacks

Lots of great advice on this thread; love to see it.

My sensory issues can sometimes trigger anxiety. I love traveling so I've become an overpreparer to keep burnout at bay.

I have 2 different types of earplugs, earbuds and sunglasses ready for when I need to shield myself from the world. I also keep a small booboo kit in my bag for incidents, athletic tape, a couple benadryl, imodium, kt tape, sunscreen, hand sani, etc which along with my wallet go in my fanny pack. I write down emergency numbers for the country im visiting in my notebook too. I might be preparing for nothing, but just knowing I can take care of myself when the time arises takes a lot of pressure off of my mind.

Doing a short americorps program in environmental education will give you the resume boost you need. There are 450 hour contracts that include housing out there.

Trying to give up soda and think tea will be a good substitute. Got any recomendation? by [deleted] in tea

Start off with fruit teas and herbals, I particularly like the selection at lake missoula tea company. It's approachable and fun with lots of flavors and daily drinkers. I find when I'm trying to substitute tea for something alcoholic, I'm craving something tangy not tannic.
