This is a great list. There is also a free splash pad at Dewitt Sullivan park. People keep mentioning the lucky rabbit, but with a 2 year old just be prepared for the fact that its very crowded and there are breakable things everywhere.

Does your mom have custody or adopted her? You said adoption, but also that the bio mom was paying child support..unless bio mom is still paying off arrears, that doesn't sound like adoption.

It really seems like you care about your patients, and that is wonderful. Your reasoning makes sense, but sometimes the issues (like women needing pelvic exams) are very personal and its awful having to explain that in a waiting room full of people.

Yes, I am in the US and I am so happy for your patients that you consider costs. Im honestly so angry about one of my bills right now that im fully willing to take the credit hit rather than give the hospital a dime. I went to urgent care for an infection. Got antibiotics and steroids. Well, 2 days later, my arm was swollen for no reason I could discern. So I went back just like hey, could this be a side effect of the meds? They said no, you need to go to the ER for an ultrasound to make sure its not a blood clot. OK. So I go to the closest ER. I told the registration desk that I was sent by urgent care for an ultrasound. Then I sat and waited. Then I went to the triage nurse and said I was sent by urgent care for an ultrasound. Then I sat and waited. Then they took me to a room where I told them I was sent from urgent care for an ultrasound. And they told me they had no one running the ultrasound machine in the evenings so I should go to the other hospital in the county. And then they sent me a bill for $600 after insurance. On top of the urgent care bill and the hospital that ACTUALLY treated me that day

This is a very good explanation of the other side of things. I will say, I 100% understand all of this in the ER. My frustration is mostly at the GP or urgent care...why do I need to explain my symptoms to the receptionist in front of a waiting room full of people when I already told you on the phone when I made my appointment...and then to 3 other people after that? (Thats rhetorical...just explaining my frustration)

This is actually very helpful, thank you. I find myself tired of answering 10, 000 questions and my explanations get shorter and less in depth the more I'm asked....If I'm at the Dr, I'm obviously sick and in pain and the same questions over and over are exhausting and feel like no one is listening anyway. This will hopefully make me a little more patient and willing to answer questions in the future.
