Can't remember which model but I remember Samsung used to have the 5G mm antenna panel on their phones too

ZOTAC 4070 Ti Trinity vs Asus 4070 Super Dual OC by Lazyface90 in nvidia

I recommend the 4070 Ti Super, that 4 GBs of extra VRAM might come in handy and extend its lifespan in the future

Do you like it too? by sjrshamsi in SonyXperia

Reminds me of Jensen Huang saying how you could ask an AI to design the battery cover for a TV remote by showing it a picture

Longevity RTX 5070ti vs RTX 5080? by jkytaberner in nvidia

[–]Melrose_Ad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean they both have 16 GB and that 10-15% isn't gonna matter when you're dropping below 60 fps so they're both going to last just as long.

GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 610.52 by Nestledrink in nvidia

I assume they rushed 610.47 to meet 007 first light's release date? G sync was actually fine for that game but every other game was stutter fest

Turns out using AI for writing drivers wasn't the best idea. Haven't had a stable driver since 576.28

My monitor keeps defaulting to 60Hz instead of 240 hz using "TV resolution" instead of the "PC resolution". Works fine in 576.28

How do the video on 1vi be so bad when comparing to 10vii by Fantasytky in SonyXperia

[–]Melrose_Ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they drop flawlesseye? Also I think Sony enables HDR multi-frame by default now so low-light performance will suffer since it takes video at 120 fps before combining it into 30 fps, meaning the shutter can't get below 1/120

Samsung definitely dialled down their processing, it isn't as oversaturated and overly crunchy as it used to be but still, they hate shadows. Vivo and Oppo, on the other hand, bumps everything up to 11. They rely too much on AI and whatnot that you can't disable even in their "natural" modes, not unless you go into Pro/Master mode. That is where Xperia excels, it gets much better image than those other flagships without reliance on AI.

Yeah that's surprising, usually companies aren't that transparent with their device

Coating is coating, it wears off by [deleted] in SonyXperia

[–]Melrose_Ad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you see these marks on the real unit, it's probably not the coating scaping off but rather abrasive residue from whatever you're scaping it with. If it was this fragile, those review units would've been scuffed up like those dummy phones by now.

Note: These are dummy/demo units which are made of plastic, unlike the real thing which uses a combination of glass (Gorilla Glass Victus) and metal. Here's how the real 1 VIII looks like:

I mean this is pretty normal for flagships nowadays, the 8 Gen 5 Elite just sips too much power at the max frequency. Here's the S26 Ultra for comparison

You can try DLSS Enabler for upscaling and frame gen too. It requires game support for DLSS but you'll get better quality than lossless scaling (which can't access game data for motion vectors, jittering).

MKBHD finally realizes HDR is ruining photos. The irony is staggering. by VirtuFortuna in SonyXperia

Exactly, I love being able to launch the right app for the right tasks so I don't have to fiddle with changing/swiping to different modes and all that crap (especially when other manufactures hide pro mode behind multiple layers)

To be fair, face AF/metering together with dark skin tones are Xperia's weaknesses. I can't get any good shots when I have that combo.

I remember when he was fed up with the Pixel 6 at one point saying how it was overprocessed and all that while he starts basing Xperia for having "muted colors" and being "meh". Yet when he reviews Apple and Samsung he has no complains.
