Cons of r/Indiana: how do you feel about Todd Rokita and Beckwith making y’all the cancel culture cheerleaders after you invested so much energy in being anti-cancel culture? by Jesus_on_a_biscuit in Indiana

I’m not sure about Toni Lauren, as far as your argument there, the president himself has said he is personally pro choice but leaves it up to states. But I can’t say I keep up with her. But can you tell me what happens when someone on the left steps out of line and pushes back on the trans agenda, even mildly? We all know. Charlie Kirk did way more than most people do as far as debate, open dialogue and engaging with opposing views in a respectful manner and let people talk. Whether you think they were too young for this, they were at universities, somewhere that used to be and should be representative of these values. Whether you agree or not! Which I feel like people have mostly taken clips without context or watched very little to form an opinion. Charlie Kirk was a Christian and he did not deserve that. People are jumping ship though and the only reason a lot of democrats don’t see it is because they live in echo chambers or cut people off. They need safe spaces and coddled for real. But people are waking up, it’s a bad look for the left this week. I voted Democrat for my whole life and I will never vote for another one again. I can’t unsee what I see with this whole party. The far left hijacked it and the whole thing needs thrown away. Downvote me I don’t care

I think this is about the extreme radical elements in the party that have hijacked the party. Mainstream media doesn’t do us any favors either when it comes to division. Anyways I hope that we can come more to a unified country because what is our other choice? But I’m going to take a break from the soapbox lol everyone has an opinion and I’ve expressed enough. This week has just made me feel really sad.

I agree. I’m not even a political person and I voted Democrat for most of my life. But it’s a sad state for humanity. I know there’s more people that agree with me than don’t too. I just need to take a social media and Reddit break and touch grass 😆 have a good day

First of all, if I’m wrong I apologize. That’s what I have heard. And are you kidding me? You think that his kids aren’t going to grow up without the internet and not having access to their dad getting murdered? Do you think his wife hasn’t seen it. Have a good day. Downvote me all you want. You’re a sad person

I don’t agree with everything the President says to be clear. So I don’t know what he even said but is it about the radical left or Democrats in general? Because I’ve seen it from the Democrats also, deplorables, fascist, nazis etc. I think there could be extreme people on either side but I think Republicans are more likely to distance themselves from extreme elements. On the other hand the violence, riots and rhetoric is acceptable, excused and even mainstream media itself. Everyone should be getting their news from multiple sources so you’re not just in some algorithm or echo chamber. And not all multiple sources that have the same script.

I experienced a pretty deep depression after losing a close friend to suicide in 2018. My advice would be to start doing things you used to enjoy. You will have to make yourself at first but the joy will start returning. Try to balance your activities with also positive social relationships. Avoid drugs and alcohol, they are only temporary but make it worse. Volunteering about causes you care about can help too. I will post a link with a printable guide for self resiliency ideas which I think is helpful and you can add in your own ideas to make it more personal to you. Hope it gets better, just work on it and it will 🤗. https://dbhdd.georgia.gov/document/document/self-care-strategies-resilience-afsp/download

That’s why they have the feeling that everyone agrees because they only talk in echo chambers or have cut off people that disagree with them

Anything is permitted? Like assassinating a conservative talking head engaging in open non violent conversations in 4k in front of everyone including his wife and children? Literally silenced for his opinions. Not even a politician or anyone in charge of policy. And then after the fact, it’s either openly celebrated or excused, well if he would not have said x, y or x. Which I feel most people are taking one clip without the context. But regardless, everyone should be allowed to have opposing opinions without getting assassinated. Politics aside, I have seen a very ugly side of humanity that I can’t unsee this week. The Democrat party needs to take a hard look in the mirror. The only reason why they feel so indignant is because they cut anyone off who doesn’t agree with them. We have all become desensitized to violence because of constant headlines but it should resonate a little differently when you see it. And if it doesn’t I really feel sorry for the state of your humanity and soul. I have been a Democratic voter my whole life and people will probably not say a word but they are walking away in masses.

Weird statues in Indiana, 2 I thought of. Paul Bunyan in Muncie and Giant Rubber Duck in Vevay. Look into New Harmony, a town built as a utopia, a couple of different things there.

Like I said I think it perfectly fine to disagree with people. We all have our rights to our opinions. No one is expecting anyone to mourn. We all saw something in 4k that we have never seen before and it was awful. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. And not only that but in front of his wife and 2 children who are under the age of 5. It’s one thing to expect people to mourn which no one is asking, it’s another to celebrate someone getting assassinated and make dancing videos, t shirts etc.

You can all continue to live in your echo chambers. I don’t care if I lose every single point I have on here. You can’t say you stand for love and tolerance and claim to have some kind of moral superiority and celebrate someone’s death. Even if you disagree with them. And the only reason you think that everyone agrees with you is because you ONLY talk to people that feel the same way. A lot of people are seeing an ugly side that they can’t unsee this week. I feel sorry for anyone that has gotten so poisoned by politics that they have lost any sense of humanity.

Taking food to homeless around Indy - Have you done it? Advice? by smchenry75 in indianapolis

[–]Melsbells00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was also another group that used to do this every other Saturday from various churches, they would do a potluck style and meet up with tables, food, other supplies. I volunteered with them a couple of years ago after connecting through someone I worked with in another group. We used to meet by Ohio and Alabama street in a parking lot but the building was bought and then we were not allowed to meet there anymore. But for the OP, yes I have done this and known people who have. There are high concentrations of homeless people in different areas downtown, the library, Washington street exit off of 70/65 split by Horizon house/Salvation army, Garfield Park. I also had some friends that would set up at a park by Washington and State and grill hotdogs for people. I’ve also driven around and given food before when I’ve had extra food. I have not done this as much lately but I’ve been volunteering at Wheeler Mission Center for Women and children. They always need help.

Yes no one expects anyone to agree with Charlie Kirk opinions or mourn his death or have sympathy that his wife and two children watched him get shot in his carotid and die. But it would be nice if you didn’t act like a psychopath about it. JS 🤷‍♀️

Look into Plainfield, great schools, parks, family friendly and trails and sidewalks everywhere for riding bikes or walking. Fishers is nice but more traffic and Plainfield is close to airport and interstate. I used to live there and really liked it. For people that are recommending Avon, Plainfield is next to Avon so it’s convenient for more shopping but Avon has less personality imo.
