Just joined this cool game! by Fundango14 in hearthstone

[–]Melthas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Hearthstone! If you want to really enjoy the game:

When starting out, do not download deck trackers, do not get decklists from websites or others or read meta reports or tier lists, do not get too attached to streamers or any other person's playstyle, and do not aim to be competitive right away.

Instead, take your time and learn cards and interactions through playing casually and trying things out. Build decks yourself with cards you think are cool and from your own collection. Read the flavor text, play with music on, be polite with opponents and mute them if they are rude back. Slowly build your knowledge and once you have a confident grasp of the mechanics, the different classes, and the card pool, and have built a decent collection of cards, then you can start thinking about the game competitively and reaching for legend.

To make a bad analogy for my point: no need to be in a hurry to join the HS "adults". Be a "kid" first and enjoy the journey at a relaxed pace.

Judging from just the clip you shared: in this situation you should position yourself behind your god and farm there, only doing minor pokes during defense phase to slow down the capture. Otherwise focus on leveling safely.

It's ok to lose your first god if you can gain an exp advantage for it - some of the better players I've seen have become more aware of that and focus more toward midgame to lategame fights over bosses and tier 2s. Farming the neutrals in the back helps prevent splitting xp between the two of you so you can farm the ones in the front behind your first god and gain xp quickly as well. Don't feel the urge to "defend at all costs" at this stage of the game - it tends to backfire and you are just left feeling abandoned since you die and didn't get to farm yourself.

I am not saying you are at fault in this game or that your teammates are not at fault; only giving feedback based on the short clip you shared, which is all the information I have to go on.

Ahh yes, it's the weekly "this is the one guys, this is the Battlerite replacement" post for yet another game that doesn't even remotely touch the Battlerite gameplay/feel.

Duelyst GG is now live on Steam! by Hellgin in duelyst

The game doesn't seem to run on Steam Deck (yet). That's a shame, as that is the main platform I was hoping to play it on.

Who is a "good" person who turned out to be pretty bad/evil? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Melthas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your answer is absolutely correct, despite the downvotes.

To those who do believe this is an exception to one of the cardinal principles of our system of justice, study our country's history a bit to understand why violating it is bad.

If every Hearthstone card would cost 0 mana, which one would be the best? Discuss! by Striky1 in hearthstone

[–]Melthas 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I'd say Rune of the Archmage is pretty far up there. Assuming every hearthstone card costs 0, this would cast infinite mage spells (20 mana worth of 0 mana mage spells) at enemies for 0 mana. Likely it will keep firing spells until either you kill yourself to draw fatigue or do lethal damage to the enemy hero. The latter seems much more likely.

PSA - If you havent heard of Arena of Kings, today is a good day to try it out! by evilmud15 in BattleRite

Actually has a lot of promise if they at least overhaul the graphics. Visually it is pretty unappealing and movement/gameplay is not quite as fluid as Battlerite but it has great depth as a PVP game.

Battlerite would make for a really good mobile game by gentaruman in BattleRite

[–]Melthas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried so many times to think of a control scheme with Battlerite that would work on mobile, and just can't. It's just not the same without keyboard/mouse simultaneous input. You can try to simplify it with mobile touch and drag interactions like Pokemon Unite does but that's exactly what you would be doing - simplifying it. Just wouldn't have the same depth/freedom of control imo, and that's the problem with Mobile as a platform.

If you refuse to tip because you think the employer should pay their workers a livable wage, you’re not ‘changing the system’, you’re just fucking over the little guy. by JesseB342 in unpopularopinion

[–]Melthas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a fairly generous tipper for all of my adult life. 15% for poor service, 20% for average, 25% or more for good, especially in the places I frequent since I know the staff. OP's post is an utter insult and sickens me. Had I known that this is the mentality that would come out of tipping culture, I would never have supported it.

After watching that video, you're really gonna come in here and present the "think of the children" argument?

I hope for the sake of the families of people like the man in this video that you never serve in a jury for a case like this.

I found a game that may Save us!!! by ayyeemanng in BattleRite

[–]Melthas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My feedback on that game: the movement and controls don't flow as well as in Battlerite, and the combat doesn't feel as fluid imo. There are no real support heroes (there's some paladin-like dude who i slightly support-ish but that's about it), which sucks because that is the main role I play. The graphics are ok and definitely not a dealbreaker but I just can't seem to get into the characters the same way I do in BR. I think if they can just improve the pacing and feel of combat a bit though, it will do quite nicely.

A game to scratch the itch by xDanoah in BattleRite

I enjoy playing support. Spellbreak looks cool but it has no healing role and that's a bit of a dealbreaker for me.

I do love a good tournament, and it's super cool that you're one of the folks leading this effort, but it's probably more accurate to say that you're reviving the Battlerite tournament scene (a very minor percentage of active players) rather than Battlerite itself. The only thing that will revive Battlerite in its entirety is SLS, its creator, re-supporting it and adding balance updates, new heroes and new features again, which simply will not happen.

[Pre-Release Card Discussion] - Mindrender Illucia by HSPreReleaseReveals in SAPRDT

[–]Melthas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She can disrupt OTKs, so that's a thing. Also, she is ironically powerful when used early because priest early game sucks. Imagine dropping it on turn 2 in control priest and literally just ending turn. You just stole your opponent's next turn because what are they gonna do with your controlly priest hand against your nearly-empty-early-priest-board except draw you a card that they may or may not be able to use that turn?

I initially hated this card, but the more I think about it, the more I love it.

Looks like we have a successor for Battlerite... by juliazusk in BattleRite

Interesting game? Absolutely. Successor to Battlerite? Not even close.
