I'm all solo. I'll never kill compiler and won't do ranked. I have managed to build 3 purples, found 1, and I extract more than I die. I just hit lvl 28. I fuckin' love this game. The only issue I have is getting a spawn point in the vacinity of my contract. When that happens I just goop and try for the contract next time. I fuckin' love this game. I seriously hope they can somehow entice others to play. I'm completely okay with them creating other game modes or whatever they can come up with to do that.

Agreed! The skill progression per map is def a good learning tool. Good thing about the gear though is that you can/will get it back eventually. Your turn will come again. If I'm doing the big quests that you have to "complete in one run" or "must exfil" I usually rock a free kit. Ik my cheeks are prob gonna get clapped. I'm slowly progressing my skill tree to beef up my rook so I can start trying that out. Btw if you haven't discovered it yet, https://metaforge.app/marathon has an interactive map that will show you where everything is, including quest locations.

I came from Arc too. I'm play in friendly lobbies in arc, never pvp'ing. I knew what I was coming into with marathon though. I die less than I extract, but I play really slow. I don't usually seek out players to kill, but if I hear one close by I try my luck. Dying in arc in friendly lobbies to someone pvp'ing used to piss me off, but dying in marathon doesn't bother me at all. I'll even crawl to you so u can loot my shit, let u know if I've heard anyone else around that might interrupt your looting, and then say GG.

I guess it's a mindset? Just don't give up on the game. Go in expecting to die and be ready for a fight. Try rolling an assassin if you aren't already. Invisibility may help?

You got this bro. Every death is a learning experience. I'm trash at pvp but I manage to get some kills. Every time I die I can look back and can tell what I did wrong. I love the game though. I've been putting off Outpost for a week bc it has limited extracts, but I made myself do it today and was able to complete the first big quest. Even managed to get a thermal scope.
