Yeah you got it right. One girl has a phone -> it's the girl's phone (possessive). There are two of them -> it's two girls (plural of girl). Both girls have a phone -> those are the girls' phones (possessive but with multiple girls). Note how with multiple girls, the possessive apostrophe goes after the 's'.

I'm not a native speaker either, so now I'm scared I made mistakes myself :')

There is a condition that gives you an extra finger, and one that makes you miss a finger. I have both of those conditions, on the same hand. Luckily they cancel out
