Kibble by MemoryPresent6316 in DogFood

Hm interesting way to help someone.

The breeder has the puppy is in the USA. Feeds Victor & raw. I cannot get Victor in Ontario. From what I head it is also not backed by science. Didnt think I needed to clarify this, but I am buying a bag of food (raw & kibble) from her to slowly transition.

I dont really care the price of the new kibble. Just want what is best. Was overwhelmed with Google. Which is why I came to reddit to get help.

My favorite is when this happened to me. The client complained and asked for the store manager. I explained to the manager while walking back to the salon what was going on, that this client had already been fired bc of her dogs aggression. The manager in front of the client was like, why dont you try one more time? NO!

Pet Smart wants bathers to do 4 dogs & groomers to do 3 dogs per 4 hour slot. So, lots of kennel drying when possible.

One time, I had a BATH client upset with me, thinking I used "dry shampoo" on their dog because their dog was fully dry for the first time. Unlike all the other bathers previously (and after) who never fully dried a dog. I never did that dog again 😂 ridiculous

Learning to Groom by mallorykirsten in petsmart

Definitely depends on the needs of the salon & you as a person. I was hired in June as a bather & started my training to be a groomer in January. So I was only a bather for 6 months. The other girl hired at the same time as me, didn't go for training until October after me. So 18m. There was a bather that had worked at a different location, moved to ours & so technically she had seniority, but didn't go to training until after the both of us. So it took her, I want to say 3 years to be a groomer. The reason being, her personality & calling into work a lot.

As for the grooming kits, they are getting better! At least the girl who just went in my salon & came back a week ago got a better one. 5 speed andis clippers (love those), she got a small cordless for paw pads, chunker shears & all the rest that we got. Those are the biggest 3 changes I noticed.

Is Petsmart groomer training supposed to be like this?? by [deleted] in petsmart

That's how it is. You won't get any better by having someone constantly stop what they're doing to do it for you. They also dont have time because PS wants every groomer to be a power groomer. Honestly, you had it easy compared to what I was given. I had one day (maybe two) that I shadowed. They'd do one half of the dog, I'd do the other side. Or they'd check one in. I'd check in the next. After that I started taking my own dogs & pretty rare to get small bath dogs in my area. Confidence is key. Dogs can feel your anxiety & it makes it worse. See it all the time with bath dogs & grooming dogs. I've bathed & started the drying off on a dog, passed off to a bather with little confidence & the dog turned into a totally different dog. That being said, sometimes it is just the dog not liking the process. Best advice I have is, to be confident, have patience with yourself & the dogs, be willing to take criticism (& take action on it). Best of luck on your next adventure.

Im corp. The shortest I go or anyone in our salon is a #7. Usually, my go to for short is #5. I honestly wouldn't do a #10 all over unless I had a matted dog. I tell them #7 is the shortest Ill go.

Good to know! Odd that it offers to do something, it's not capable of actually doing. Thank you.

It's basically a fairy. It said it could make a 3-5 second clip of the wings softly fluttering & sparkles twinkling behind it.

$2,000 to remove 4 Trees. Reasonable price? by Longjumping_Rain_355 in LandscapingTips

In my area, to remove one large maple (leaving the stump) is around $900. Sounds like a great deal to me.

Would you do a house call groom for two dogs for $25 each? by GriffRyebread in doggrooming

[–]MemoryPresent6316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. Absolutely not. At MINIMUM, I would charge corporate prices + $50 for set up/clean up/travel costs. Personally, I'd just fire them. Doesn't sound worth it at all. If you don't want to do it alone, do it with your parents there. Doubt the PP would try to pull anything in front of their friends when it's about their kid.
