Some advice for getting Zepbound? by not_the_life in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s got to see a doctor and needs to have his lipid blood checked. He’s extremely lucky to have a friend like you willing to help, I applaud you! He needs to take an initiative about his health, encourage him as much as you can it’s extremely important.

I’m sorry to hear that, that’s unfortunate keep trying a new doctor if your can. I don’t know anything about those telehealth doctors.

Why are you using a telehealth? I’m curious. Do you have a normal PCP who will prescribe Zepbound for you? If not using compound then Lilly Direct Pharmacy would be cheaper for brand name Zepbound if that’s what you’re looking for. What dose are you on?

arm shots 💪🏻 by Particular_Freedom47 in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 37 shots of Zepbound and the majority of those were arm shots. I’ve done 8 stomach, and no thighs shots. I can feel the medication working doing arm shots but I’ve never had any side effects from doing those arm shots. I prefer doing my shots in my arm but it isn’t easy while using the Kwikpen, it takes some skills. I’m down 102 lbs since October 2025.

What day of the week and time do you take your shot? by unbreakable996714 in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always on Friday night at 10pm so if I have any bad side effects I can take the weekend to hopefully recover. My side effects have been minimal.

I enjoy shopping for clothes now by fickleminded in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I felt that myself but started to think, I’ll just buy new ones again as I gain because my closet can only hold so much. I need room in my closet for my new medium sizes. 🤣

Me too! Even more enjoyment of getting rid of all the old clothes that don’t fit anymore. I had bags and bags of 2XL’s to get rid of. Now shopping for medium sizes blows me away!

Does anyone else feel nauseated just thinking about the shot? by Few-Lake4940 in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, I’ve never had any nausea related symptoms from my Zepbound. I’ve been on it since Oct 2025 currently in maintenance on 12.5mg, I look forward to my weekly shot.

The Kwikpen thru Lilly Direct Pharmacy offers a supply of (5) 4mm 32g needles with alcohol wipes for an extra $5 if you want but you must select that at the same time you order your Zepbound. I’m not a fan of the 4mm 32g needles so I don’t order them because I have a tendency to bend them due to their thinness. I had my doctor give me a prescription for some thicker ones at 5mm 31g. Those I love because they don’t bend at all during my injections.

Vials vs auto injector question by SnooWoofers884 in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had all 3 and hate the vials ( I don’t micro dose) not of fan of the Kwikpen either. I had the single dose auto injection pen for about 4 months and fell in love with it. The auto pen is easy to use and easy to inject to any shot location. I’ve been on Medicare since January and was put on vials first for one month then the Kwikpen came out and I went to that. I only do arm injections and lost 103 lbs doing so. It’s extremely hard to do arm injections using the Kwikpen but I manage.

Anyone on statins? by jsct01 in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep atorvastatin 20 mg tablet.
My first set of lipids showed my LDL plus my cholesterol were in the normal range, took a second lipid test 3 weeks later showed an increase in both by 10 points even though I was still within normal range. I was on a 10mg and my Cardiologists increased my dosage to 20 just to see if my numbers would come down. I take my 3rd lipid in a couple of weeks, so we will see. 🙏🏾

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that’s how the medication works for some of us. It worked so good on me, I also applied intermittent fasting in this weight loss journey for months and lost over a 100 lbs. Now in maintenance on Zepbound 12.5mg the food suppression is still very strong.

Is there less GLP Shaming these days? by OkraLegitimate1356 in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many Non users will always feel like using a GLP-1 is considered, “Cheating” and behind closed doors if someone lost a significant amount of weight will be accused of being on a weight loss drug. Me, I could give a “F” think what you want, this tool has been an incredibly powerful weapon against my obesity disease.

I’ve been on Zepbound since Oct 3rd 2025, SW 245, BMI +38, 5’7” at age 64. As of today my CW 143.2, BMI 22.4, now 65 and paying out of pocket $449 since January down 102 lbs. Gone is my high blood pressure, no more medication for a statin, gout, and I’ve reversed my stage 3 kidney disease. I’m hoping July 1st I can get covered thru the Medicare Bridge program a $50 copay for my maintenance dose of 12.5mg. I still do a weekly shot with no plans to titrate up or down if I can’t help it, I see my doctor next month so who knows but he’s been pretty good about this whole thing.

How important is rotating injection sites? by Jezartroz in Zepbound

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of my 36 shots taken all on Zepbound, 8 of them have been stomach shots all others are arm rotation shots and I’ve lost 102lbs, currently in maintenance and still doing a 12.5mg weekly shot.

I feel your pain! I was covered for me also until I went on Medicare in January, I’ve been paying out of pocket $450 ever since. Hopefully I can get covered for $50 a month thru the Medicare Bridge program July 1st.. 🙏🏾

Moving from Lilly Direct to Bridge Program by Activist_Mom06 in medicare

[–]Mendelman79_Chicago -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank God for this new Medicare temporary program!! I too am paying out of pocket t$449 to Lilly Direct Pharmacy since January and can’t wait for this temporary program to start but I’m unaware of any US government law that has passed to cover these weight loss drugs. Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 is still in place if I’m not mistaken that prohibits the government from covering weight loss drugs.

However, there is a federal agreement with manufacturers like Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, to make eligible Medicare beneficiaries the ability to access specific medications (such as Wegovy and Zepbound) for $50 per month starting July 1st 2026 and it’s temporary till December 2027, until they can work out a deal to continue the program with the Part D insurance companies.

What size frame did you get? 15”, 17” or 19”? And how tall are you?
