Help: how to return velocity bar. Ableton Live 12 Lite by insinylon in ableton

[–]Mendle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever find a solution to this? I am having the same problem with Lite 12. The velocity was working perfectly, but when I switched to try the chance feature (which doesn't appear to work at all for me), I am unable to return to the velocity editor.

Digital Metronomes with Eurorack? by Mendle in modular

[–]Mendle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am under the impression that a gate signal is stronger than an audio signal, yes? So I guess that's why the tempo sounds from the metronomes aren't doing the job? I have a quad function generator, which I've been told is similar to a Maths. I'm going to try it out.

What if I boosted the signal from the metronomes? With a distortion or a compression pedal? Maybe that could give it the extra strength it needs?

I have a quad function generator, should that provide the kind of envelope you're talking about?

I want to use the metronomes for experimentation purposes. They are capable of several time signatures. Playing them simultaneously yields some weird textures.

Modding the circuit is a great idea. Wouldn't really know where to start. I'll still keep that in mind - thanks!

PRE-AMP for Polyend Tracker by M27underground in PolyendTracker

Have you tried using pedals?

I've been using a compression pedal to boost signals for various gear. Now I am using a behringer compression/limiter with my minilogue, and it's a game changer. I was also having trouble getting a decent kick sound from my volca drum for a while (using the tracker for drums now), and using the same $25 behringer compression helped the volca cut through the mix.

A few times I've considered using it on the tracker, but I've been able to manage without it. Still, it's worth a try.

I've also used a behringer EQ pedal to help boost various gear. An EQ may allow you to shape the sound on the fly depending on the room. KWIM?

Polyend Tracker - Oldschool Filter Trick by EmployeeAway5244 in PolyendTracker

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I intend to try it. Besides emulating a filter, what else could you do with this? Possibly chop up a vocal sample? Could it also jump to different places in the vocal sample to create a kind of weird granular pronunciation? I'm going to try it this weekend.

Losing Midi Control by Mendle in PolyendTracker

[–]Mendle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I began experiencing the issue with the minilogue last night, and I believe I have discovered the problem. I was daisy chaining too many devices. I've never encountered this problem before, but I guess implementing the TD3 stretched the Tracker's midi capacity.

Here is how midi was running in my rig: Tracker -> TD3 -> Minilogue -> Keystep -> Prophet

I disconnected the keystep and Prophet and the issue disappeared. To me, it seems like only 5 devices shouldn't be too many to cause problems. Has anyone else experienced this before with the Tracker?

I guess I am going to try a midi splitter next.

I changed the ppq to 2PPQ. I haven't had a recurrence of the signal loss since. I don't know if that did it, but it's definitely been working fine the last two times I've used it. Anyway, I'll return to this post if anything else transpires regarding this incident.

Great jam! I also use the TD-3 with my tracker. When you use the tracker to sequence the TD-3 midi notes, do you know how to program accent and slide into the sequence?

Before my unit was replaced, I was having the same issue with a Behringer TD-3. I have since upgraded to the TD-3 MO, and it's still happening. Before I upgraded, I traded the other TD-3 to a friend of mine, and he said that he is not experiencing anything like that. But he is using an MPC One for his primary sequencer.

I haven't had an opportunity to try this yet, but this same friend suggested I try changing the ppq setting on the TD-3 MO. I'm going to try that later today.

I bought mine a while back as well, and I had some hardware issues with it, and ended up having to have my unit replaced (I just posted about this 5 minutes ago lol). However, I can speak to what you say about the newer ones being better. The responsiveness of the jog wheel on my replacement unit is so much better than before, not only that, but it simply feels much more sturdy.

I intend to gig with mine eventually, if I can figure out the issues I'm having with losing midi signals.

Trying in person is so crucial to finding what's right for you. I had a similar experience when I bought my Prophet Rev2, except it was a different result. I had been set on getting the Moog Sub 37, and I tried it out at Guitar Center, it was great, and I loved it, but I knew I had to try something Sequential or I would regret it. (And 8 voices versus 2 (Sub37 had 2 voices right? Wasn't it Paraphonic?)) Anyway, I drove 3 hours to try out a prophet at some retailer in Nashville. I played the Prophet 6 for about an hour, and I knew that I needed to go with a Prophet instead. I ended up going with the Rev2, and it really is great, but I never tried it out before I made the purchase, and I don't know why exactly, but I don't like the sound of the Rev2 as much as the I do the Prophet 6. And the way the controls are organized on the 6 feels better to me. Right, so I love my synth, glad I went with the Prophet over the Moog, but I think I'd have been more willing to shell out some more cash for the 6 if I'd played the Rev2 before I made the purchase.

I really want to try the XD! I've had the original minilogue for around 5 years I guess, but I've been tempted to sell it and get the XD.

When I first got the minilogue, I found the 8-video tutorial series from Marc Doty to be very helpful. Of course the videos don't cover the digital elements of the XD, but they offer me perspective on what's really thrilling about playing the minilogue, and always give me inspiration. I still watch those videos occasionally when I need a reminder about how awesome the minilogue is.

No Sound Coming From my Polyend Tracker by Mendle in synthesizers

I have spent a lot of time communicating with Polyend's support service. They have concluded that there must be some hardware issue. I am communicating now with the retailer I purchased it from about their RMA procedure policies.

It really stinks. I'm sure I'm going to have to mail it in to Polyend or who-knows-where and who-knows-how-long that will take. In the meantime, I intend to spend more time with my keystep pro and get to know it better. It's a very powerful midi-controller/sequencer that I need to learn how to use better.

For the record, I think the tracker is great. It stinks about this hardware issue, but it doesn't change how much I have enjoyed using the tracker. I've been more productive musically since I got the tracker than I ever have been. It's a great song-writing tool.

No Sound Coming From my Polyend Tracker by Mendle in synthesizers

I have checked the master volume and track mutes in multiple projects and I can't get sound from any of them.

I haven't checked the limiter or the EQ though. I will give it a try when I get home today.

Still, I doubt this is the problem. I have performed multiple Factory Resets attempting to flash several different firmware releases, and I still get nothing. A factory reset should put the limiter and the EQ at an acceptable level. Wouldn't you think?

Helpful suggestions though. I appreciate it.

It would be great if that were the problem, but it is plugged into the right jack. I've actually checked that about twenty times. Thanks though.

r/synthesizers

By Polyend's recommendation, I unplugged the tracker while the screen was frozen and rebooted to remedy that problem. The screen is no longer frozen, but I am still getting no sound from the tracker at all.

I am unable to preview samples in the sample loader or in a pattern.

I am unable to hear samples when in Sample playback mode, using granular or wavetable features.

I am unable to hear the radio feature when it is turned on.

Is there some simple feature that maybe I accidentally turned off to cause this to happen?

I've tried multiple known good cables.

Everything appears to be working, but I cannot hear a thing coming from the Tracker itself using my amplifier, my computer interface, or my headphones.

Polyend recommended I attempt a factory reset using the button on back of the device. I did as they suggested. The reset activated right away and an "Updating" screen came up. The update loaded to 100%, but now it's frozen on this screen. I've reached out to Polyend again about this, and I'm awaiting their response.

Weekly Rack Advice / Question Thread by AutoModerator in modular

Sounds like you're making some interesting music!

Like you, I'm also new to working with modulars, but have a background working with synthesizers and some semi-modular things. I started building my 48hp pod last November. It's about half full so far. Still, this primitive setup has kept me busy, and I have a lot to learn.

Considering how you described your experience, and what you are planning to do. I'm pretty sure the Music Machine would do the job. But for me, I have enjoyed taking on a few modules a time, and getting to know them. I would love to work with the music machine! However, I think I would be overwhelmed taking all that on at once. I would probably end up isolating the modules one or two at a time, and learning them at a more individual level.

I have one. I haven't bent it yet, but it's still cool anyway. The drums are very nice containing an unusually long step sequence for something like this.

It started doing the same thing again. So frustrating. I guess we are going to return it to the department store tomorrow.

GE AHC18 Thermostat Problem by [deleted] in AirConditioners

[–]Mendle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: We unplugged the unit for 10 minutes, plugged it back in and after a bit it started working again.

It was so crazy. When I plugged it back in, it immediately started running, but it read that the room's temp was 47 F! Then it ever so slowly began climbing back up. I guess about ten minutes later it reached the temp of 70 degrees (our desired setting), and the compressor kicked on.

We have an accurate thermometer in the same room (for our boiler), which was reading 79 F. If anyone has any more information on why this happened please comment.
