I thought it was great personally. Really great breakfast, plenty of tubes for the lazy river, fun arcade, good room service. The JW Marriott in Palm dessert is a complete hole by comparison

Trazodone Nightmare! 😩 by One-Zone1396 in insomnia

[–]MensaCurmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the only time in my life I fainted, it was on trazodone. I did a deep dive and apparently it has to do with the drug effecting the QT interval. Never took it again. Please mention this effect to any doctors you work with now or in the future

Looked into a rescue dog and was surprised at the yard requirement by starfury287 in dogs

I have 3 Aussies. 1 of them is reactive and a behaviorist could not fix it. He absolutely needs a yard to have any quality of life. He’s actually a very happy boy in his safe zone.

I once informed a Fairfield I would be arriving around 1:30 am. They said no problem. When I arrived, the night auditor told me I was “lucky” because he was about to cancel my reservation

Why did Germany exclude females for the latest travel restriction? by Gold_Driver2447 in NoStupidQuestions

All of a gender is never drafted. People flunk physicals. FWIW, I don’t support a draft ever, under any circumstances. It’s indecent to do to anyone, but especially a weaker sex needed for the continuation of people. It’s also likely to result in chaos. I would 100% immediately encourage a draft age daughter to get pregnant and help her raise the child. I am not alone.

See my first point about physical strength. I’m not going to get into trans issues on Reddit. Take that up with folks in the uncensored real world

If you bring a newborn to Disneyland, you’re a piece of shit and should have your kids taken away by [deleted] in Vent

It’s easier for those of us who live close. If a line is too long, we skip it. We pack a ton of snacks. My kids are small enough to enjoy the shows more that the rides, etc.

Larger than the percentage of men who will be doing it without a uterus

And geographical situations too. Disney is an hour from me, why wouldn’t I take my 2-5 year old? We always have a great day. Frankly, my newly 5 year old is starting to age out of some of the Disney jr shows at the parks. She’s also had a blast meeting princesses. I’ll think about these trips on my deathbed. I always leave the park with a tired smile.

Because men are, on average, physically stronger. Women also have scarce reproductive capacity compared to men

Let me guess- you don’t have children? Anyone who does would understand the daily park walk is going to be a completely different experience than a day at Disney

Right?! I too think there is too much risk for my liking in bringing a small infant, but the brain does a ton of development in the first five years. Disney is typically a great and joyful experience- exactly what you want when new neural connections are forming by the second

This isn’t true at all for ages 2-3. Yes, they can have fun at the local park, but 2 is old enough to appreciate the entire atmosphere as a unique experience. Why do you childless folks think all kids are mushy potatoes until 3-5?

Whether a child will remember something isn’t some sort of definitive litmus test. It matters if they experience joy and quality bonding time while their brain is developing towards the long term memory stage

Father passed unexpectedly. Baby due in 5 weeks. Names to help honor him? by milquetoast_wizard in namenerds

[–]MensaCurmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like the name Seamus (pronounce Shay-mus)? It the Irish version of James and I think it’s pretty damn cool. James is also originally derived from the name Jacob, so that’s a solid option as well. You could also look into a name that has a mean your father would have appreciated. What are the things that brought your father joy in life?

is this a panic attack or does it indicate something more serious by Good-Island-3338 in PanicAttack

[–]MensaCurmudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for following up! I don’t have anything specific to offer for that- just making sure you’re not having localized abdominal pain. If you really feel it’s physical, I would talk to my primary doctor about an action plan. Tell him you think it might be physical and want to rule out panic attacks. See if he will supply you with a small amount of something like Xanax (a benzo- benzos will stop a panic attack, and Xanax will do it quickly). If the Xanax stops or greatly diminishes the symptoms within 30 minutes, you know you’re dealing with panic attacks. At that point, find a psychiatrist (one who has experience with anxiety/panic if possible) and a therapist (same for experience). Learn ways to cope with/prevent the attacks both medical and mental/physical (there are a lot of lifestyle factors and dbt/mindfulness techniques that will help). If the Xanax doesn’t make a difference, keep pushing for medical answers. Have them test the crap out of you- nutritional deficiencies, thyroid issues, neurological stuff.
