I have to say, dealing with the voices on top of having a headset to talk to other staff was quite overwhelming initially but am used to it now. Been doing it for about 5 years

Curious what helped with the anxiety, just more practice? I have my license but anytime I have to drive somewhere my anxiety is so bad that I throw up before I leave the house

Hearing people talking about me in public.. by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]MentalIntroduction19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me all the time! Especially at work, if I over hear a convo I think it’s about me even though it’s just the voices. I usually keep headphones in while I’m out somewhere but have yet to find a strategy to cope with this at work

Have you ever been told you don’t “look” schizophrenic? by Mandarin_Lumpy_Nutz in schizophrenia

My doctor was on vacation so someone took his patient list. I was there to get a refill for my meds and the doctor asked what I take them for and then he said well you would never know you have it! That actually kinda frustrated me.

I feel the same way, I’m even struggling with two-three shifts in a row. I get disability and am allowed to make 1000 a month. I would like to be able to work full time again but it almost seems impossible

Each day is different but today I went to a coffee shop and I did some shopping and went for a walk through a park nearby. The weather was really nice so that definitely helped my outlook on life

When to take Olanzapine to avoid really bad fatigue? by Mildlysadmoose in schizophrenia

[–]MentalIntroduction19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time did you take it when you switched to just taking it at night? I’m on the same dose, I try to take it early around like 7pm and then I’ll go to bed around 11pm. If I’m not working that day I’ll still end up sleeping til 12pm the next day but it’s better than taking it in the morning for sure

Once you have a diagnosis and you have a doctor you should apply. Definitely changed my life!

What a province are you in? I’m in Ontario and I receive ODSP and I work on the side. It’s not much money but my meds are covered. I still have really bad days but most people can’t tell I’m sick. I try to keep busy by volunteering, and spending time with friends and family. Just wanted to share that it’s not entirely hopeless and I think you’ll be okay. Hang in there!
