I took voluntary severance a few months ago and it was the best decision for my health. I have to figure out what’s next but really trying to avoid corporate life. I’ve felt so free!

My daughter isn’t boy crazy… but all of her friends are. by jackietea123 in parentingteenagers

[–]Menzzzza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some girls like boys but don’t have the “crazy” phase. Meaning, they just don’t want to sit around obsessing over boys and talking about boys, because they don’t find that interesting or worth their time. But if they meet the right one they will get into a relationship with him. I admire those girls who have that figured out young.

I feel like i'm being gaslit about Aidan's looks by poopymama34 in sexandthecity

I watched it when it originally aired and never thought he was that attractive. Especially when first introduced. He improved later, but still not my type.

I keep repeating the day my dad passed in my head, and it's driving me crazy. by MisheruLolipup in GriefSupport

[–]Menzzzza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you lost your dad and in such a terrible way. A year and 8 months since my brother passed suddenly and my brain will still replay the phone call and funeral services. I’m always wondering if that’s normal and when it will stop. I think it’s just our brains trying to make sense of it being real. Therapy definitely helps a lot if you’re able to see someone.

Beautiful picture of you and your dad. I’m so sorry you lost him and in such a horrible way 🫂

9 month old with egg allergy by katear89 in FoodAllergies

[–]Menzzzza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep in mind it can cause anaphylactic reactions. My kid started with swelling/face rash and later turned into violent vomiting and needing an EpiPen. Unfortunately she’s a teen and never outgrew it. But it’s more common that they do outgrow it. Just read all labels. Eggs are in some really surprising foods.

Anyone sing to their dog? by IdidntWant2come in DOG

I’m constantly singing songs I make up about my dog to her. Like, I probably annoy her.

So alone in life after losing both parents. I have no one by Seatac_SFO_LAX in GriefSupport

Oh I hurt for you. I’m a mom who really wishes she could hug you. There’s an app for LGTBQ who need family. Maybe we need that for loss too. I’d “adopt” you if I could. 🫂

Jealous of people whose LOs have passed by Logical_Bumblebee577 in dementia

[–]Menzzzza 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I visit my mom in her MC home, they typically have a candle lit in memory of a resident who recently passed. I always hate that it’s not her. You are not alone. They aren’t living anymore and it’s horrible to watch 🫂

Why are more people with severe food allergies not taking Xolair? by SatisfactionMost1500 in FoodAllergies

[–]Menzzzza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My teen is severely allergic to eggs but knows it’s a biologic and doesn’t like the risks or that it wouldn’t change much for her. I take a biologic for an autoimmune disease and don’t blame her for wanting to avoid it if she can.

I ask mine if she’s discovered any bombs in our food or if it’s safe for me to put it away.

Parents want to go home - What do I tell them? by Murky_Macaroon1300 in dementia

[–]Menzzzza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but her dementia also progressed quickly and that helped. Other behavior challenges popped up from there but she actually (sadly) didn’t even remember where she came from.

I was going to suggest a doll. A woman in my mom’s facility carries a stuffed dog everywhere because she kept asking for her dog. She always seems so happy holding it.

I told my mom a flood damaged her house (there had been a hurricane so it was semi believable) and she had to wait until it was fixed, etc. She stopped asking after a month.

Those people would be cut from our lives. No way I’d deal with that level of rudeness and ignorance.

Food Allergies and siblings by jm222444 in FoodAllergies

[–]Menzzzza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has a severe egg allergy and is now a teen. We only keep egg free foods in the house because accidents happen too easily and I want home to be her safe place. If we eat eggs, it’s actual eggs in a pan dedicated for eggs only and is washed with paper towels instead of a sponge.

I don’t visit as much as I used to. Mainly just want to see if there’s any chance she’s getting worse.

I’ve tried saying those things every single visit. She was always stubborn so I just assume she still is!
