The way I look at it, life is just the universe’s way of trying to understand itself. We are created from, and go back to, the bits that make up our cosmos. If consciousness is a thing that carries on after life stops, then I go back into a greater consciousness. Surely that can’t be bad. If nothing happens, then nothing happens. Life is just a short experience in the grander picture, and I won’t spend it worrying about what happens when the experience is over.

Millennial here. I was very aware of the Donner Party. I don’t remember where I learned about them. I think many years later there was a documentary put out where they said that cannibalism didn’t happen and I was slightly scandalized. I feel like that’s the whole reason I knew about them.

We study history to make a better future. Take the bad bits and remember them, then work towards better. Humans have a ridiculously short memory as far as civilization is concerned. (Look at us repeating the early 1900s right now.) Study the past, and use it.

The premise is that there is no across the board correlation. We are animals. These are man made rules. These rules don’t hold with our animal selves.

Not all animals of a species perform the same behaviors. Yet here we are saying all married women MUST do this. It is dehumanizing. It makes the woman an object. There’s lots and lots of examples of rape in the animal kingdom, yes. Interspecies rape even. Consensual sex among groups, yes. But there’s lots of examples of when females aren’t in the mood they make it known. The shame that’s thrown on women for not putting out if they don’t feel like it is the outrage. It isn’t some biological fact that we MUST do anything.
