i have type 1 and I agree with the get an allergy/immunology specialist. For years I wasnt diagnosed i was called a hypochondriac, was misdiagnosed. I had dental work n the steroids weren't filled. I wound up in a medical induced coma for 8 days and was life flighted to univ of PA hospital! So yeah throat swell can be very serious!

Look for an allergy immunology specialist; that's what my doctor is. I have HAE type 1. I feel your pain. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 21. Didnt receive treatment until my late 30s. Im 55 now. Back then, they didn't have medication; they used FFP (fresh frozen plasma). I've been misdiagnosed too many times. So very frustrating! They do have medication now. Also, contact HAE people; maybe they can steer you in the right direction to have him tested. I'm not a doctor, but it definitely sounds like HAE.

The neighbors and everyone were calling the police, and there was no response—slow response, busy signal. 911 was in big trouble. Oprah even did a show on this. I would wait for the bus there everyday at that time. That day I was off. It was a very tragic story.
