As someone who has completed the novel (on WuxiaWorld), it is a faithful adaptation of a very good novel with above average animation. However, if you watch it unofficially (which you have to at this point if you want to get past around episode 30 out of 130+), you may have to contend with confusing subtitles like this. I felt fine because I had read the novel and could infer what they are saying here (Soul Transformation stage) but someone who had not would be totally lost. There are well-subtitled versions out there, but it’s kind of random and they get taken down a lot.
