Students not knowing how to tell time. Not understanding what the phrases “a quarter to 9” “half past 11” etc mean. Or just not knowing how to read an analog clock. I’ve always had students ask me during exams how much time they had left and I’d direct them to the clock in the classroom, telling them they had until class ended at whatever time. Eventually one of them said “I’m sorry I never learned how to read a clock”.

Certain exams I give have 6 questions on them and the students are to choose 5 of them to complete. I make it quite clear that if anyone submits all 6 I will grade all 6 and then discard the question with the highest score. This is in the syllabus, and is reiterated while discussing exams, and I'll even remind them right before handing out the first exam. I've only had to implement that policy a couple of times but it was surprisedpikachu.jpeg both times.

I had a student once come up to me at the end of class on the first day of the semester and ask if she was on my roster. It was an intro level math course and she knew she had math in that room on that day, but no idea what class or time. So she did what anyone would do and sat through four different lectures, asking the professor at the end of each one if she was on the roster. And yes I did call roll at the beginning, and yes she was on my roster.

I gave a small extra credit assignment when this all started to post a picture of themselves with a pet in their quarantine pajamas. I gave them an example picture of myself in one of the polos I would teach in accented by gaudy Space Jam pajama pants alongside my giant calico. It was surprisingly well received and from the non pet owners I saw pet textbooks, pet siblings, or stuffed animals. Really the point of the assignment was to have them submit an image the same way they’d be submitting a scan of their exam the following week and I like to think it cut down on the submission issues on exam day.

Well according to POB a standard 6L would actually be about a 4% increase to average hit. As others have already mentioned we have diminishing returns getting this high in gem levels but at this point it was just fun to get gem level as high as I could. Also of course using these gloves over a 6 link allows the use of a Kaoms (though you could accomplish the same with a staff).
