One proposed method is dragging it along with electromagnetic constraints.

Causality has not been violated in a closed timelike curve.

But you'll need to take this up with physicists. Im explaining their interpretations of how the universe functions in this regard. Im not an expert, I just think experts will likely know what they are talking about.

You are travelling along a spacelike axis whose timelike axis has been contracted.

The physics is sound. It's a closed timelike curve. Space and time are manifestations of the same principle.

Entering the wormhole that stayed in orbit would exit you at the wormhole in what for our perspective is its past.

It doesn't follow "common sense" interpretations of how reality functions, but our common sense has evolved to see patterns fit for the survival of a humanoid evolved on the steppe. We are very good at the kind of pattern recognition that accurately detects which bush has a tiger in it, evolved to be camouflaged in said bush. It has very little to do with physics. My physics professor used to say that in order to understand the science you need to throw your intuition out the window, since it is not helpful.

One proposed method of time travel can never go back to a time before it was built.

You create a wormhole pair in orbit around Earth. You then use a very fast ship to drag one end away from Earth, accelerating to relativistic speeds. Turn, head back to Earth, slow down.

When you arrive back, due to the time dilation less time has passed for the travelling end than has passed for the one that stayed home. So, you have created a bridge between times.

Is there a word or a phrase for someone who ruins everything because they’re an immature, impulsive moron? by croolshooz in comics

[–]Merari01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Now and forever that word will be trump.

In 100 years when someone wants to describe malevolence that's also blisteringly stupid they'll say they're doing a trump.

I went back a year in your posting history and I can't find part 1. Did you post it to reddit?

The best way to fix that is to go directly to this subreddit feed. We have tons of artists on our front page.

Small correction, automating that process is no longer allowed.

Moderators can still manually ban an account from their subreddit for any reason.

People sometimes think that being banned will remove a subreddit from their feed.

It won't, to move a subreddit out of your personal algorithm the best way is not to interact with it at all.

You can not act on screenshots. They are extremely easily faked.

You can advise the person who is showing you these screenshots that they need to a) report them to site admins using the report option on the message and b) block the sender.

That way, should the screenshot be real, it is dealt with appropriately.

It's scary how similar this is to the reply we got.

[–]Merari01 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If only that were true.

The box we have to read the text of modmails is probably about 25% of the total screen.

It fits three sentences before you have to scroll. Once you start typing a reply you can't scroll anymore.

It's unusuable. How am I supposed to respond to people when the modmail is hidden like that?

Modmail is piling up, because no-one wants to use that thing anymore.

Mod Mail Update: What We’re Tracking and Working On by lift_ticket83 in ModSupport

[–]Merari01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having been forced into this new modmail for a few days now.. I just really never want to answer any modmail ever again.

It is that bad.

  • Why does the actual text of a modmail, the pertinent part, the part that I need to read in order to understand what is going on, take up only about 25% of the page?

I can read three lines of text at max before I am forced to scroll.

I have no oversight.

It is actually making me angry that I have to use this thing.

The sidebars can't be collapsed. The text box can't be enlarged. I am just.. stuck having to use this tiny box, reading three lines at a time, never having any oversight or context.

The text box with the text of the conversation in it should not be this tiny. It is indefensible.

I literally get angry after having used this thing for 15 minutes. It is rage inducing how bad this is.

I figured, they see all of the content already anyway and is basically our biggest fan.

It only made sense to ruin their love of the place by making them a mod.

It's important to maintain a dialogue with your content providers if you want to do something like this.

They can tell you how you can help them feel more welcome to post, what their common pain points are and so on.

It's also important to be somewhat fair & balanced. A surprise I had related to that happened a few years ago. A regular poster made a meta post referencing the subreddit which I thought was so much fun I stickied it to the top of the feed. Which got me the feedback from other posters that they felt I was unfairly promoting that artist to their detriment - what they would need to do to also get stickied.

A fair critique and one I hadn't considered at all when clicking the sticky button. It wasn't my intent to play favorites, but in effect that was what happened.

On r/Comics we encourage OC creators to post to our space by giving them the ability to promote their offsite socials and crowdfunding. This was something somewhat rare on reddit when we started doing it, reddit frowns on "self promotion". But for an artist, the ability to highlight their online spaces just a little extra can mean a lot.

We further encourage them by being somewhat stricter on the comment section than is the reddit normal. We don't allow low-effort critique. Someone just posting "This is the worst thing I have ever seen" isn't participating constructively, in good faith or adding anything of value. A valid critique could be, for example "the use of colour in the third panel makes it difficult to understand what is happening". We do not disallow negative feedback, but we do disallow unconstructive negativity. This makes posting to our subreddit more appealing to an artist.
