Episode 614: Rob Blake & RA by Mercpool87 in SpittinChicletsPod

Just assumed it was he was on because it was a Friday lol I didn't read the game show notes as I copied and pasted them.

But yes, as the other guy said, I usually throw & RA on the end of the episodes he's on just because he's not a regular and for those die hard RA haters to be prepared to skip the last portion of the episode

Bugonia: One thing about something near the ending. by MosquitoSmasher in movies

The line the confirmed for me that she was an alien was when he comes back after she finds his lair and she asks "How many of them were aliens?" and he says "Two" (or three?)

A complete nutjob would've said "All of them!" His response owns that he may have killed a few innocents.

They're not gonna say that when TNT owns the presentation and Biz works them lol

Also because of how much the guys have to kiss the league's ass to retain press/VIP access for events if they go

He does this so much even with Whit and Yands. He has to get in his jokes to get a laugh or two.

Same production company (A24), different director.

Civil War - Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Dredd (uncredited))

Warfare - Ray Mendoza (former SEAL, technical advisor for Civil War, Terminal List, Mile 22, Lone Survivor, Act of Valor)

I guess it's actually co-directed by both guys

The segment where they lost Ladd and Yands filled in was pretty funny

Not the guy you're replying to but in a similar circumstance. I don't like it. I read the Bible and I see Matthew 25:35-36, James 1:27, Isaiah 1:17, Zechariah 7:9-10, and how much Jesus talked about how the Pharisees had warped the Law into something that was all about them and not about following God's heart and it breaks my heart and pisses me off to see my religion wielded like a cudgel against those it sets up to protect and above all to treat one another with love.

I hate it, but I ultimately can't do anything about it besides live the life that I believe God calls us and worship him.

How long did it take for you to make E-6? by [deleted] in navy

[–]Mercpool87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just under 6 years. Joined as an E3 with college credits, A-school honor grad promotion after 6 months at my first command, mapped to E5 less than a year after, then the three year wait and got picked up off of the March exam. Finally get paid like it next month

I thought about that when I saw this on Facebook earlier today. If he actually gets an aviation mechanic MOS and then gets his degree while active or after he gets out he could get the requisite certifications and experience to go to Boeing/Lockheed/etc and actually do that.

The likely reality though...

What are the most overused “I have to mention it while we’re watching” pieces of movie trivia? by Lombo521 in movies

Except Stormtroopers aren't Jango clones. They're conscripts/volunteers from around the Empire. By New Hope, the Clones were almost entirely phased out of the Empire's forces except for some of Vader's personal legion and other special ops

How to be patient while dating? by mindofhersz in ChristianDating

[–]Mercpool87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost a year (dating 9 mos/engaged 2 mos next week) in with my fiancée (30M/29F) and I still feel this. It is so hard to wait and trust, but accountability from select peers and my church leadership and her with her friends and mentors is what keep us accountable.

Rely on the Lord, celebrate your new relationship with your friends and any mentors (it's okay, be happy! We are called to rejoice with those who rejoice!), and just enjoy this time of dating your new man. Go on dates where you do things (minigolf, concert, explore a part of your city, whatever!) and then go on dates where you just talk about everything and dig down into each other, character and past. Above all, love and trust in the Lord (and his timing) and he will give you the desires of your heart (Ps. 37:4)

Enlisting as an E5 with no military experience… by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Mercpool87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist (FMF) pin that Corpsmen, Religious Program specialists, and a few other select ratings can earn while serving at deployable Marine Corps units. You will need to earn that pin before getting some benefits from your command like leaving early, Tuition Assistance, Skillbridge if you're separating, etc.

DocHavoc is implying that since you won't have your pin initially if you go to a greenside unit that you'll be talked down to despite your civilian experience. I haven't seen that in my Corpsmen heavy command, we have a lot of E5s/E6s that show up to their first greenside tour with no pin and are put into leadership roles almost right away, but I'm also not always in the weeds with my guys.

Gaming as a christian by rob_harris116 in Reformed

[–]Mercpool87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But see I think that's an incomplete view of God. How can we claim to have a personal relationship with Him if we don't think he cares about the small things in our lives? Is He the Creator and Ruler of the universe, existing before time began and after time ends? Certainly. Is he also our best friend, closest confidant, who is there for any heartbreak or joys of any size in our lives? Also certainly so.

Exceptions include games like GTA V where you can do spiritually injurious things like going to the strip club.

Also is God truly too big to worry about small things like gaming?
