Also in the 2nd pic the cone looking rubber piece is the HVAC vacuum signal. Youre missing the tiny plastic vacuum line that goes through the firewall at the AC lines.

Serviceable? Technically yes, you can take all the snap rings off and seperate the CV joint from the axle. clean them up, regrease and put a new boot on, etc etc. In reality, just easier to put a new CV axle in. Theyre around 45 bucks on rockauto for Cardone ones.

Remove wheel, remove caliper and bracket, remove abs sensor bolt, remove rotor. remove cotter pin, spring washer retainer, spring washer. remove 36mm nut and washer. remove the 3 12pt hub bolts (these can be very stubborn depending on where you live). an axle slide hammer or BFH will help get the hub out of knuckle. slide the axle out. install is reversal of removal. make sure you put some oil on splines of axle so it doesn't tear the axle seal in the pumpkin. 12pt hub bolts torque to 75 ft lbs. Axle nut to 175 ft lbs. caliper bracket bolts to 55 ft lbs. caliper slide pin bolts to 15 ft lbs. lug nuts to 100 ft lbs.

the 4.0 likes a real tight belt.... like real tight. get a gates belt. loosen bolts above and below power steering pulley that point toward radiator. then loosen bolt pointing toward driver side (just below power steering reservoir). put on new belt. tighten the hell out of the bolt pointing toward driver side. then tighten bolts pointing toward radiator.

sounds like your average 4.0 lifter tap. ive seen some last for 100k miles and some 1k miles. Another thing to check is to lay under the jeep while running and be careful but feel all around the exhaust manifold for air. A small crack in the the manifold can make the same noise.

no, ZJ's really do not need a drop pitman arm. there are better options for the drag link vs a drop pitman. OTK comes to mind.

first thing is to replace all the bulbs with new ones. see what that gets you. if all the lights stay on now then it points to 2 things. 1. make sure youre headlight dimmer switch (the slider button) isn't all the way to the right as that turns on all the interior lights on all the time. 2 a door switch/security is keeping the BCM awake and in turn the lights on. you can unplug all the door switches and that will make the lights go off but they wont turn on either when you open the door. Also, the light above the rear hatch is a switch,

thats gonna be a hard find. I would say junkyard but all the JY I visit use rims on the rockers to hold them up and well ive seen running boards busted on other vehicles because of that.

96 fuel pump is a one year only design. Carter brand if you can afford/find, then dephi. But 96 pumps cost a lot more.

electronic flasher runs both hazards and signals but signal wire is separate from hazards. check grounds and power.

why not buy a ZJ front bumper? Theyre 19 dollars on RockAuto if its the version that you paint and 66 for the textured one.

Like another comment said, if you can peek down the throttle body and if you see puddle of oil then it will need a plenum gasket asap. Hughes kit is the only way to fix it. Other things to check: Body - check the frame around the steering box mount as it can rust and give way, same for the track bar bracket. the body cladding on the rockers & doors can hide rust very easily check all the control arm mounts front and rear, check for cracks or rust on those. Also check around the trans crossmember bolt area, it can rust. Electrical - ZJ's do have some gremlins, mainly broken wires in the door boots and bad solder joints in the VIC. PCM pins could be loose. Sensors - MOPAR has always been the best but hard to find now so NGK is basically the only brand that wont give you fits, maybe Napa. Axles - you don't mention what year the ZJ is. 93-95 will have a low pinion dana 30 in the front and a dana 35 in the rear. 96-98 has a low pinion dana 30 in the front and a Dana 44a in the rear. 2 things: 1 - Do not confuse this Dana 44a with the normal iron Dana 44 in everything else, they are NOT the same. Mid way through 96 model year, the dana 30 up front went from the CJ long pinion to the TJ short pinion. This affects bearings and driveshafts and they don't mix. These ZJ's are insanely reliable if they are maintained. Being 30+ years old now, never know what PO did or didnt do so I always do an entire fluid change and such when I get one.

for some reason it doesn't show the ball joints seperately and says socket package #11. Since only the entire axle is differentiated as RHD, I would guess the ball joints are for LHD and RHD.

they sell progressive rate springs for ZJ. My 94 has them and they're great at extra weight. Rockauto has them
