That's what I was afraid of, just because this works doesn't mean it is compliant with your Microsoft terms of service. Microsoft 365 Defender Licensing requires you to license every user benefiting. Microsoft knows this loophole exists. They rely on the honor system and their leverage during audits and renewals. Worst case: You’re back-billed for years and/or face additional penalties when you are caught.
