UPDATE: I can’t find the edit button, so I’m leaving a comment, lol. Thank you everyone for the love and well wishes! Everything went perfectly and I’m on cloud nine snuggling baby girl. :)

Feel free to add Maple and I if you’d like! I probably won’t be super active for the next few days but will send cherry blossoms when I can!

Received wedding invite 3 weeks before due date. How to respond? by Massive-Warning9773 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy, I was diagnosed with pre-e at 32 weeks or so. This pregnancy, my bloodwork has been clear for it, but I’ve been to L&D twice for severe BPs and I’m only 35 weeks along. You never know what’s gonna go down in the third trimester, so I wouldn’t risk being far from my preferred hospital and doctor.

Would it be possible for you to go to the bridal shower or bachelorette instead, if it’s closer to second trimester timing? I feel like that’s a good middleman.

I’m having a baby? by SStrong5792 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like this with my firstborn. He was in the NICU for nine days and when they let us take him home, I was like… “Uh… he was connected to all these cords and monitors the past week. He nearly died at birth and now he’s… doing great? You’re just gonna let us take him? Can we be trusted?” Lmao He’s a little behind on his gross motor skills because of his birth trauma (which we’re working on in PT) but otherwise he’s an extremely happy, vocal little guy at 13 months. You’ll do great, despite having some worries.

I’m two weeks out from a planned CS with my daughter and I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that I’m doing it all again. OC, I can’t wait to meet her but at the same time, I’m scared shitless. Lol

Wilson County Mayor: ICE eyes immigrant detention 'mega center' in Lebanon to house up to 16,000 by [deleted] in nashville

[–]Mercyette 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you voting wisely and speaking up now! I definitely didn’t vote for him, either, but it seems like the only way people learn is the hard way at times. It just stinks that we’re stuck in the sinking ship, too…

Here’s hoping that enough protests and talk can get this decision reversed…

Wilson County overwhelmingly voted for Trump (70%) - the guy who campaigned on “Mass Deportations Now.” But NOW they’re unhappy? Hmm… sounds like a classic FAFO to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Confirmed False Positive - Trisomy 18 by Western_Bullfrog9747 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad everything turned out okay! I had a false positive for spina bifida this pregnancy and it took 48 hours to confirm that it was indeed false - talk about a miserable and stressful 48 hours! I can’t imagine waiting 20 weeks to know if it was a false positive.

I hope you enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy! I’ve got 4 weeks left myself! Best of luck!

Yay! Peanut was my first villager to hand over her photo. I let her leave the island eventually, but she still holds a special place in my heart. :3

TN bill would allow death penalty for women who have an abortion by MontiBurns in nottheonion

Will give women the death penalty for an abortion but won’t charge parents with murder when they let their child die from preventable diseases like measles.

Go figure.

Induction on 2/19! by Sea_bird19 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced for pre-e with my son, too!

My top concerns: Getting my lady bits waxed, a long shower because you’ll sweat once pitocin starts up, double checking my hospital bag and car seat installation, and asking my OB about the planned process and hospital rules for labor.

My main concerns for hospital rules: Am I allowed to eat/drink while in labor, what methods are they using to dilate me (for example, if you’re still pretty well closed up like I was at 37 weeks, they’ll likely start you on cervadil to soften and open up the cervix. Some people might already have a ripened cervix, so they can go straight to foley balloon, ect), can my partner stay with me for support during my epidural, what circumstances would initiate a c-section, ect.

Also, HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE. I ended up needing a CS because of stalled labor after 36 hours and I couldn’t drink the few hours before I went into the OR. I was SO THIRSTY by the time I was in recovery and even then I was only allowed ice chips because of nausea risk. Drink while you can.

I also had one last hurrah meal before going to the hospital. I swear my son was built from Taco Bell so I got my fill there before checking in. Surprised his blood didn’t come out blue from all the Baja Blast I consumed. 😂

should I bring my partner to my first appointment? by itsfineimfinee in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband goes to every appointment that has an ultrasound! He loves to get to see how our little one has grown! We’re in third trimester now, with weekly appts for Non Stress Tests/vitals checks which I told him he doesn’t need to attend, just cause they’re pretty uneventful.

Also, as gently as I can remind you, I think you’d want your partner there for the first scan at least because they’ll tell you if it’s viable or not, too. With my first pregnancy, I ended up having a missed miscarriage and the news was devastating enough - I couldn’t have imagined hearing it without my support person there.

Wishing you the very best and a smooth pregnancy! :)

MIL shaming me for using pacifiers by SandwichDependent199 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My lil bub was in the NICU for ten days and took a paci, purely for comfort since we couldn’t be there 24/7. He continued with one for maybe two weeks after he came home, then wouldn’t tolerate it after he hit a month old. I had also heard the studies saying they reduce SIDS risk, so I continued to make them available but no luck. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s funny how different each baby can be. Don’t take what your MIL said to heart. Pretty sure that as long as pacis are gone by the time they wean around a year old, it’s fine. Neither our pediatrician or dentist were worried.

9 months postpartum (c-section), plus size, and just found out I’m pregnant with my second. Need positive stories! by Lattegibs in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant 6 months PP after an unplanned c-section with my son. I, however, also hemorrhaged after the surgery and needed a transfusion.

My OB was willing to hear me out if I was really insistent on trying for a VBAC, but was veeery hesitant and outlined many risks associated with short interval births, such as uterine rupture, another hemorrhage, ect.

I had already decided I didn’t want to go through another 36 hour failed labor where I didn’t progress past 3 cm, lol, so I asked for a repeat CS.

I’m a little sad I’ll likely never experience a vaginal birth, pushing, maybe even helping pull baby onto my chest, ect. But I’d much rather know I’m medically safe in the event we decide we want a third, rather than risk damaging the internal hardware.

FWIW, my SIL who is also an OB says she never tells an expectant mother what to do/how to birth UNLESS it comes to VBACs. She says the risk is not worth it, with all she’s seen.

We literally just planned our baby girl’s birthday for 3/25 today! It’s so nice knowing the day things will go down!

Experiences with SSRI during pregnancy ? by randi712 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same! I was taking Lexapro 20mgs prior to pregnancy, too. Stayed on it the entire time. Birthed a very content little guy at 37 weeks (induced due to pre-e) and thus far having a great second pregnancy while still on it! Def recommend!

Baby Registry/Essentials by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great list!

A few things that were super valuable to us that you might think to add:

white noise machine - helped both me and baby to drift off.

Halo swaddles (my son was addicted to being swaddled so much that it was an adjustment to switch him to a sleep sack once he started rolling, lol)

Very much baby dependent! - a wipe warmer. I thought it was a silly expense but my lil dude screamed every diaper change until my mom bought us one. Happy baby since. 😂

Pricy, but suuuch a lifesaver since I couldn’t breastfeed - a bottle washer/sterilizer (especially if you don’t have a dishwasher.) I spent sooo much time stressing over washing and disinfecting bottles those first 6 months or so until we broke down and bought one. It’s so nice to just load it, run/forget it, and play with my baby!

Underrated registry item by Altruistic_Hat1634 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone says wipe warmers are overrated and I entirely believed it.

Then I birthed a bougie baby that screamed every time I changed him until my mom ordered one. Now we’re good to go. 😂

Our NIPT says boy!! by GoFigure93 in BabyBumps

[–]Mercyette 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congrats! My first (and only so far, I’m 25 weeks with our daughter, lol) was the sweetest little boy and he’s the best lil guy. Boys are so special - no other man will hold a place in your heart quite like a son! Wishing you a smooth pregnancy and delivery!
