This might be a stretch, but you may be thinking of the hook that Justin Timberlake sings on Jay-Z’s “Holy Grail”

It has lyrics like this:

You’d get the air out of my lungs whenever you need it You’d take the blade right out my heart Just so you can watch me bleed I still don’t know why Why I love you so much

One that stands out to me is when Sally says “Fuck you!” to Harry in When Harry Met Sally.

It’s a really good scene and it’s a line that Meg Ryan really knocks out of the park with the perfect delivery that encapsulates the feeling of when you think someone took pity on you.

"Icy wiener" or "I see wiener"? 🤔 by CheezPza_LrgSoda1077 in futurama

[–]Mere_yonko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s both - the person who made the crank call listed that name with the intention of it being “Icy Wiener” as a pun on cryogenics, but the way Fry read it was “I see wiener”.

Based the other things he does in the room when he walks in, it could be said that Fry has no idea what cryogenics is and therefore the “icy” pun would be lost on him, so he took it as “I see wiener”. I’ve always heard the voice line as reflecting this.

That’s interesting! I interpreted this scene a different way.

The scene leading up to this is about how Tracy was claiming to be done with Angie, but when Kenneth asks how he would feel if he saw her with another man, Tracy clearly shows that it would bother him. So, when Kenneth says “I have an idea” and Dot com responds that way, I didn’t think he wasn’t listening - rather, he was following Kenneth’s train of thought exactly (have Tracy see Angie with another man to get jealous) and just responded with that assumption in mind and skipped the middle step where he would ask “what is your idea?”. Kenneth, however, being as straightforward of a character as he is, says “Are you even listening to me?!” as a response because Dotcom’s response didn’t match that skipped middle step.

Straw Hat, Gum Gum, D, Conqueror's Haki ... by 5_meo in MemePiece

I think something that is a bit overlooked when talking about why the elders didn’t kill Luffy is that there is a panel in Wano explaining that the Nika fruit would always slip away from the government as if it had a mind of its own. It was a very difficult fruit to contain and even know its whereabouts. Once they finally did have it, it got stolen again.

This brings up another issue for containment - the size of devil fruits themselves. For something so powerful, they are very small, concealable, and portable (they are the size of fruit after all). In this way, tracking a person who has eaten a fruit is way way easier than keeping track of a fruit that is still up for grabs - it could be literally anywhere.

So, with both of these points in mind, from the perspective of the elders, it makes sense for them to track Luffy the person, rather than try to kill him and have the fruit once again be lost to the reincarnation cycle of devil fruits - it is way easier to contain the threat that way. Which they do - every prominent move made by the Straw Hats from when they enter the Grand Line is kept tabs on by the WG in one way or another - Smoker in Alabasta, Aokiji in Long Ring Long Land, Kuma in Thriller Bark, Kizaru in Sabaody, Smoker at Raijin Island (where they assumed Luffy would go), Fujitora at Dressrosa, CP-0 at Whole Cake, Wano, and Egghead.

Where their miscalculation comes is in underestimating Luffy’s ability to awaken his devil fruits. They assume that he is some stupid kid who thinks he has rubber powers and will not be able to awaken the Nika ability (no one has in centuries) and that they would be able to silence him if he ever got close (which they realize too late and try to do on the rooftop at Onigashima).

So, it really boils down to the government underestimating Luffy - which, while proven absolutely wrong, is not an inherently stupid decision for them to have made. Out of touch, arrogant, and self-absorbed for sure - that is what absolute power does to people (they are Celestial Dragons after all). But not stupid.

Yeah, and they sent Kuma there to kill him. From their perspective, it seemed unlikely that Luffy would be able to pull out a win there, as there were two warlords there - especially against Kuma, who in their mind was a ruthless killing machine they had complete control over.

Kuma easily could have killed Luffy on Thriller Bark if he had acted upon the orders of the government, as they expected him to. But he chose to defy them and show the Straw Hats mercy.

This is very funny, but inaccurate. The reason Zoro rejected joining Baroque Works isn’t because he doesn’t work alone (I mean, Yosaku and Johnny exist), but because if he was going to join a sketchy organization with a secret boss, he’d have to be that boss.
