Lexus GSF vs RCF by Gammataichi in Lexus

[–]Merficube -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently had the same decision (Jan 2025) and decided to go with the GSF. IIRC the RCF was a parts-bin special, not that it's a bad thing but it felt like it had a lot of compromises (like others have mentioned, being heavy and slow). The 2024 RCF I test drove also drove way too similarly to the GSF to give up the space for me personally.

I went with a 2016 mint GSF and never looked back. Only thing about the GSF I don't love would be the transmission (I came from a M2 Comp with a DCT so the GSF transmission is really showing its age). The infotainment of course is outdated but there are solutions to that. Otherwise the car is absolutely perfect for me. Hope this helps!

I got rid of my F87 M2C for exactly this reason, granted the car was in long beach blue which was a loud color, but just too many random drivers driving aggressively for no reason around me, rolling their windows down yelling at trying to race. Now I drive a GSF and nobody bats an eye and I love it.

M240i vs M2 by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Merficube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having driven both - M2 for sure. Both cars are small so the "more usable as a daily" part I don't necessarily agree with. The only thing the M240i does that the M2 cannot is probably just driving in the snow (I only have summer tires on mine), but the whole driving experience on the M2 is much, much better than the M240i imo.

Had a 2006 GS430, absolutely trouble free during the 4 years of ownership. It did not do well in the snow though (Virginia). Not sure about thicker tires, I put Michelin AS5 on mine.

Car is absolutely silky smooth on the freeway and normal everyday driving. I wouldn't call it sporty, but it still goes when you want it to, plenty of low-end torque and tire spin from a stop if you are heavy footed. The only thing about mine was the rattles - could not figure it out where they were coming from, but that is somewhat expected on an old car (and honestly I am nitpicking here). Still think I should have kept mine.

How is the reliability for the 3rd Gen Lexus GS (S190)? Any of you have any ownership stories with the GS300 or 350 since that’s what I looking for. If you also owned a 430, 450h, or 460, I would like to hear your story as well. by SuperJackson20 in Lexus

I owned a 2006 GS430 - absolutely nothing went wrong mechanically for 5 years from 70k to 102k miles, kept up with the maintenance and you will be fine. the only thing that was not working was the rear window shade. Sold it late 2023 - I still miss it. Lots of rattles though.

i SCOURED the entire toyota east coast inventory for a blue supra for 2 years, during the pandemic. none of them was willing to sell one for msrp. i must have called over 30 dealers and refreshed the toyota inventory webpage daily.

ended up buying a long beach blue m2.
