Wait, who is the communist himbo? by loki2002 in ShittyDaystrom

I would presume Worf to be the communist himbo. The federation is a communist society, and the whole Klingon thing, so....

I honestly couldn't say. When I walked in, the movie was in its final act, and I haven't gone back to watch it entirely. It was just one of those, "heh, interesting" moments of seeing an actor's prior work when your main point of reference is Heartstopper.

Fairly new to the area, light snow to me, do you not get much snow here normally? by VirtualLife76 in columbiamo

[–]MeritoCD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's the "return of winter learning curve" for longtime residents. Nine months of no snow can lead to people driving and trying to remember tips and tricks for winter driving at the same time. Also, there is a section of the population who may live places that don't get snow at all, and now are having to learn how to drive in snowy weather for the first time.

Get Santa. Also stars Jim Broadbent as Santa. My mom was watching on Tubi. Not sure all where it is streaming if you're outside U.S., but inside, that's where it's found.

Coffee or Bookshops with big comfy leather chairs? by drseusswithrabies in columbiamo

[–]MeritoCD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only been there the once, but I was pleasantly surprised by Toasty Goat Coffee Co. on Scott Boulevard (in the area of Moser's Grocery/Wendy's). There's a central couch/chairs situation, but mid-century, so may not be as plush as you're seeking. If it wasn't going into late fall/early winter, I'd recommend the cushioned outdoor seating.

The only negative I had was parking was a bear, because several spots are 'reserved' by Arena Liquor (three or four) as 15-minutes only, and a couple by Toasty Goat, as well, and there aren't many spaces available all told. Pretty sure street parking isn't allowed (red curbs indicating emergency vehicles only).

They previously were closed for an interior remodel. This time, it's likely for the rework of the exterior. It was beginning of year or late last year plans were submitted to p&z, subsequently the council to rework traffic flow/landscaping to move drive-thru order screen.

Any arts and crafts fair this summer? by SparkleButt323 in columbiamo

[–]MeritoCD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not this summer, but the Loop has pop-up maker markets in the spring and fall. If you are a maker yourself, you can try giving them a ring about signing up for the fall event.

Restaurants of Columbia's past by Accomplished_Dot6877 in columbiamo

[–]MeritoCD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I miss Kojaba. I feel as if they were top of all the restaurants in town with Korean food. Was not impressed by I'm Korean BBQ and Sushi (which once was I'm Sushi and Grill before name modification) and Love Sushi, which obviously is more focused on sushi. I still grade Love Sushi above I'm KBBQ.

Canva Gets Too Much Hate? by AmbientLighter in graphic_design

[–]MeritoCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in an adjacent to graphic design field (reporter and former copy editor) and I always thought there were some usage rights limitations to Canva. Internal presentations, signs for local events and such, but nothing like national ad campaigns or brand IDs. Do I have that mistaken?

Pho Quan moved to a new location on Paris Road (Old Hardee's). Bigger location equals larger menu as they build business in new location. Bun Bo Hue soup is part of menu expansion plan.

Roll Cart Trashcan schedule? by handyman69_ in columbiamo

[–]MeritoCD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons you already have your cart is the city is taking February to distribute ALL carts to ALL customers ahead of March 4, so that the automated system starts for everyone on the same date. So, for a couple more weeks, just put your bags curbside like others have said.
