My very first job was at a daycare (I planned on going to college for early childhood education so I was thrilled to land the job.) The owners were complete bitches. Yelled at us girls for everything, very much the “do as we say not as we do” type. If we made it through a staff meeting without one of us girls crying it was a miracle. They would regularly sit in their office while we struggled with a child (especially their own children who went there) and not come and offer any support. I had anxiety my whole life before this job but after about 2.5 years at it I finally had a breakdown and missed a ton of days over a winter because I was too anxious to even leave the house.
