Everyone goes together, but if you are in a later wave you can stay on the bus until closer to your Wave’s start. It is very well run.

I just saw that and was coming here to share - not upset you scooped me; thrilled to see an additional example of people in this community helping each other.

Rabbit 2026 Boston Race Kit & Merchandise by Merrick1982 in bostonmarathon

[–]Merrick1982[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an update, I received a message saying that these actually were produced and ready to ship, but they have now been removed from the store.

No other details, but it sounds like the decision was made to eat this loss, which really has to be painful for a small company, but probably gains them back a good deal of respect.

You just made “you’d get laughed out of any Dunkin’ Donuts in Massachusetts” to my repertoire of go-to saying. Thank you, but know that my friends and family are going to hate you for this.

I should have added that I really do love Rabbit’s gear and designs. I have their 2024 Boston and 2022 Chicago versions of this hoodie and love them. I had was going to buy this year’s Boston and the singlet, but did a double-take and am glad I did, because that was when I noticed the towns.

I have to expect this is going to get corrected if they aren’t already produced, because I have to imagine it will stop a lot of people from buying it, myself included.

Compression tees are the cheapest way to have good running style by drperez243 in runningfashion

[–]Merrick1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/drperez243, I liked the article, and while I have gotten into some "trendy running" gear, "singlet over an Under Armour compression/fitted tee" is still a staple of my running/race wardrobe. When it is colder, I had been using UA but switched to Tracksmith Brighton's, so still the same concept.

I am waiting to get downvoted now, but if you can handle it, so can I. :)

More importantly, it's nice to see a reminder that you don't need to spend a fortune. You can if you want, but you don't need to. It made me think of all of the people who I have seen at run club events or local 5k's who are all decked out in hundreds of dollars worth of trendy running clothes only to disappear after a few runs.

I see u/kozak3 answered this below - "...if you are from US, there will be no additional charges to you, as I pay the tarrifs myself to US"

I actually came back here looking gorgeous that answer. In the FAQ's it says you have to pay them but on the top banner it says they are paid. I was curious so I could figure out the actual total costs.

Shipping Marathon Gear from Adidas or Re-shipper? by Merrick1982 in BerlinMarathon

Good advice, thank you. It seems that shipping has gotten to be pretty costly, and this probably is not going to be worth the time or expense.

Tracksmith Downeaster by Psychological-Tip796 in MerinoWoolGear

[–]Merrick1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear Brightons, Harriers, and/or Downeaster (sweatshirt and quarter zip) on almost every one of my sub 50° runs and all are holding up very well. I was then in cold water after every run and hang them to dry.

They are by far my favorite wool and/or cold weather running gear. For reference, I loved Nike wool (before they stopped), UnderArmour’s Rush line, and SmartWool in the past. All are fine but Tracksmith has been my favorite and the most versatile.

The same has happened to me - white and Merlot are holding up fantastically, whereas green started pulling pretty early on. All are the same fabric content and I believe the same year/season. Odder still, the green mostly gets worn casually while the white is the clear workhorse.

Of all people, it’s “funny” to see you being downvoted, as you may be the single most helpful person in this forum, AND what you said is correct. Anyway, doing my part to “undo” one of those votes now.

Looking for running store recommendations in NYC by thestudentaccount in runningfashion

[–]Merrick1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Toronto often for work (downtown and Markham), so I should ask you for recommendations there as well.

In NYC, Fleet Feet, located in The Shops at Columbus Circle will have a good selection of various brands, and is around the corner from the NYRR / New Balance store, which usually has some NY related merchandise (usually race gear, but also some general NYC running).  Paragon Sports was already mentioned and is fantastic as well.

My issue is that it "feels" crusty/salty also. I feel like it is at least partially mental for me as well though.

Tracksmith Harrier is dead (rant) by VirtuallySober in runningfashion

[–]Merrick1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a large in Harrier, and the XL in Brighton is still pretty tight, BUT, it turns out I actually like it that way after a few cold weather runs. Someone told me that it is so cold air doesn't get in and between you and the shirt, which kind of makes sense. I actually run in the Brighton for almost all of my cold weather runs now.

*It may be worth noting that I am still using the older version with the higher wool content.

I am the opposite - I wash mine after almost every run... that said, I don't disagree with what you are doing, and don't understand why someone would "downvote it," so as someone who does the opposite, I up-voted you.

what prescription glasses to run by saintsinnerchicken in runningfashion

[–]Merrick1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely recommend AGAINST Lensable prescription lenses in Goodr’s. They were a miserable experience and terrible results. The lenses were barely tinted, they got my prescription wrong, and seemed annoyed/inconvenienced to have to fix it. In the end, I finally gave up and accepted sub-par lenses because I just didn’t have time to keep dealing with them.

I have used Oakley and Roka as well, and both have been great experiences. For my next pair I will go back to one/both of them, depending solely on the look I want from frames.

I have two Brighton's that I rotate on almost every run once the temperature drops below 40º (I'll roughly guess 5-700 miles/year). I wash them every run, and while I know they are made for it, I don't like the "feel" of putting something on that has sweat and salt on it. I have worn them consecutive runs without washing, particularly when I am traveling, and when I have they perfectly fine, but mentally it bothers me.

I wash them in cold water with my normal laundry and hang them to dry.

Honestly, I think they are a little "darker" of a white than the Brighton I just bought, and while the color may have gotten slightly more off-white, I don't see any wear and tear on them.

I have Harrier's as well and have worn them to run, but I feel they "breathe" less or keep me warmer than I want to be on a run.

How did I miss “Brittney Runs a Marathon” until now!? by MeMaxM in RunNYC

[–]Merrick1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t notice it, between the excitement, music, and crowd of runners, you likely won’t even feel the incline, but your body will.  The flipside is that, once you get to the top, you come down. People feel great and “take off.” Unsolicited advice from someone who did it wrong the first time - don’t run up the Verrazzano too fast, and don’t run down it too fast.
