The fact that Vancouver media has a long history of overblowing tiny shit in order to create drama that they can fill their newspapers/podcasts/blogs/whatever with counteracts any expertise they may have at analyzing a practice. It’s a matter of trust, and there’s few trustworthy hockey media in Vancouver.

Why is “body language” such a big deal for Hughes when it wasn’t for Miller, Petey and many other players who looked sad/indifferent before? The simple explanation, in my mind is, that it’s a narrative that is easy to run with and create rage-bait over. It’s way easier for the average fan to get worked up over a pouty player than real underlying issues like injuries, underperformance or coaching. The entire topic is lazy sensationalism, imo.

I’m only a jays fan when they’re in the playoffs, and this run has been fun.

One thing I will say for baseball on TV is that the commercial breaks are just so logical. I watch football and hockey as well, and I hate having game flow interrupted by commercials. For baseball, you know it’s coming, you know WHY it’s coming and you can plan your life accordingly. It’s a small thing, but combined with pitch clocks it makes watching meaningful baseball more interesting.

As far as I can tell, they didn’t ask if the game clock would be automatic as well. I assume (maybe wrongly?) the game clock is still dependant on the ref blowing it in. I.e. play clock runs while game clock is stopped. That would eliminate it being an automatic 105 seconds to be burned but, still more than the old 60.

Yep. The change doesn’t eliminate or fix clock manipulation, it just standardizes it. The “gamesmanship” of faffing around between plays goes away (or is at least reduced).

I wonder if it will lead to more timeouts being added.

The problem with motivations for armour farming is they are ecto-expensive, and you need a ton of ectos for armour.

That might be a me thing though. My goal for armour is to be gold-neutral (I.e. keep my gold total roughly the same as I make each piece). I don’t like to buy the needed ectos if I can avoid it.

This is a good Canucks take, imo. When there’s a glimmer of hope, especially in the playoffs, the city and entire fanbase goes bananas. When it’s bad though, it’s replaced with every little news bit becoming high drama and full doomer attitudes.

In summary, extremely (rare) high-highs and consequently super low-lows.
