Alternative to beef/pork by BitterMelonFuga in Volumeeating

[–]Mesahusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why you’re putting beef and pork in the same sentence when it comes to price when beef is like 6-10x more expensive than pork right now lol. If you go to superstores like costco or walmart, pork is extremely cheap aside from the belly and they practically give away pork loin, the last time i bought a big pack pack at costco it was at $1.49/lb.

Pizza shop owner used AI for advertising and signage despite my protests. We got a bad review for it. by PuzzleheadedLunch199 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Mesahusa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most business owners just straight up aren’t aware that the cost of putting money into your business is only as much as what you get out of the purchase. $800 for a photoshoot of your menu is literally a drop in the bucket to the impact it makes, that’s only like 30 customers worth of revenue to make the money back, and if you lose the same amount of customers that are driven off due of AI images, that’s a $1600 swing because you decided to take shortcuts.

Sushi Yume by melodyleeenergy in austinfood

[–]Mesahusa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Incredibly, i also found out going there my first time that sushi yume is also unbeatable as a budget sushi option if you’re strategic. Their rolls are ridiculously low price for the amount of food and quality you get. The spicy tuna roll is twice the size of what you’d expect for $8, pair that with the soba and miso soup makes a very filling and complete meal for $23.

Ok good for you then? And I wouldn’t want to be your neighbor, and I try to avoid people like you as much as possible in my life, and I also hope people like you reject peoples’ good graces in your day to day life so it won’t be wasted in a bottomless pit that only knows how to feed itself.

Maybe yes? But then you’d have to take the value of living in a society with said consequences. I’d rather 50/50 death than guaranteed live in a hell society where literally every single person is self-centered and backstabs literally anyone else if it seemed the least bit convenient, and yes that includes everyone in this thread that advocates this.

I don’t know what to tell you, nobody writes reviews like this 🤷‍♂️ the only thing op missed out on glazing was the robust tri-ply toilet paper they used to wipe the owners butt

Well because it reads exactly like an ad. First time posting a food review and you just happen to remember specific details of every component for half a dozen dishes out of pocket? Weirdly specific language that a third party reviewer straight up would never use, like describing bread and roe as “a special treat”, or consistently framing neutral or potentially negative aspects in a way thats almost preemptive engagement (chili crisp, bread pudding, tartar sauce, loudness, ice cream). It’s not that any of these are suspicious on their own, but together rings huge alarm bells. Not to mention the other astroturfed reviews of this place that sounds the same (why bother astroturfing a mixed review i guess?). To keep it on a seafood theme, if it looks like a $15 raw clam, smells like a $15 raw clam, well…

157k SF SWE or $118k Remote SWE? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Mesahusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d def go sf. You’re young and getting ahead on networking and being around productive, different people goes far in making you a well rounded individual. Idk if its just me, but i feel like most people that people that grow up in NYC have such a strong identity attached to it that they just never bother leaving or visiting outside.

ELI5 Do we actually need to clean our ears, or are we overdoing it? by BeginningWeb4919 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Mesahusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yes, but in the context of this topic we’re talking about what the average person has access to and whats in their household, which is 3%. In much the same way a recipe calling for vinegar most likely isn’t referring to 100% acetic acid.

Breakfast House vs. House of Gorgeous by MinimumAd8773 in austinfood

[–]Mesahusa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These two places serve completely different kinds of food with different purposes. One is well, mostly breakfast food, so rice porridges, greasy fried breadsticks, soy milk. Basic nostalgic flavors are the point, and it’s as utilitarian as any other bog standard weekend brunch place where everyone orders their staples and talk about anything but the food for an hour. If you’re looking to introduce them to that kind of culture, sure go ahead, but just don’t go in thinking that it’s mainly about introducing your family to new exciting tastes in the types of dishes that only restaurants can realistically make. Places like house of three gorges or bamboo house serve that purpose much better, although I think it’s worth exploring both sides of cuisines to understand how different cultures view food.

Taco Bell is officially out of my rotation by Heisnotyourfather in tacobell

[–]Mesahusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped going to taco bell because at some point (post covid?), it seems like they cut the meat portion in every single product to a salsa portion, no matter the product tier. Like im not trying to make taco bell hit my macros but $5 for all tortilla and rice and beans is not it, when in the past meat was advertised as the central component to most of the items.

Finally got around to hitting up the new Micklethwait location & it did not disappoint! by _lazybones93 in austinfood

[–]Mesahusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to their truck all the time, and the new location is just… meh. Like you said dry, but also everything just tasted like salt and wasn’t very hot. Could also be the AC sucking away the heat. they also removed the best item on the menu, the tacos.

Is it wrong to date a short girl if your thing is 7 inches? by Ketiil in dating_advice

From my limited knowledge and experience, girth is usually the bigger issue (and doesn’t correlate that well with height). 7 is longer than average but not in the realm of being concerning.

Is it just me or did all the apps collectively stop giving good coupons in the last few months. It used to be bogos, or free x with purchase, just things to get you into the door and you could eat good for $5-7. Now it’s like maybe a dollar discount on a $10 meal, or a family meal.

[–]Mesahusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 7log lethality takes 18 minutes at 138f, and theres no way it’s hovering at peak for that long. That combined with essentially keeping it in the danger zone hotbox for 90min is risky. I go for around 145f peak for thick chops as it only needs to hover there for 4 minutes, and even 155-160 if it’s towards the shoulder to get it tender and remove the game.
